Hi everyone. My son Jude was fairly healthy looking and skinny for the majority of his life. But it was this past summer that he started packing some weight on. He stayed a couple weeks with my sister, and when I picked him up, he was noticeably fatter. All his clothes were way too tight. I was definitely concerned, and I took him to the doctor for his sports physical. The doctor said that he put on 45 pounds from his last check-up, weighing 200 lbs. He's 5'7" by the way. The doctor was very concerned and said that I should monitor his eating and excercise. But the problem is now, that he quit the cross country team because he says he can't run fast anymore. So he's clearly been putting on more weight not running. I'd say he's somewhere around 215 or 220 lbs now. Is there anything I can do about this?

Please help! My ten year old daughter thinks she is fat, but I hate it when does! She has started dieting and she is only 64.3 pounds. I ask her desperately to stop but she goes behind my back and diets with her school lunch! I have gotten so hopeless. I think that maybe because we made such a big deal of her brother not eating or being too skinny that she started to feel fat. I feel bad for my actions now and just wish she would think that she is not fat and an average weight! Even her friends donʻt agree with the idea! Somebody, please, please, please help, and I will thank my lucky stars.
Thanks and sorry for the length,
Mary K.

I'm concerned about my daughter and don't know what to do. She's over 500lbs and can barely move...
She was maybe about 180lbs when she graduated high school...played some volleyball and all that. But it was in college she really started to put on the weight, she admitted to being over 300 when she graduated (I wish she were only that big now!)
My daughter got married to her boyfriend almost right out of school and kept getting bigger and bigger. The problem is that as she's gotten bigger, she is less and less willing to even talk about it with me. I know she's her own woman now (she's 28 and married), but its such a sensitive subject for both of them (her husband too) that if I even serve them diet coke I can see they get offended, like I'm demeaning them about her weight.
PLEASE she's getting so big. I know she used to eat a lot of fast food, but at over 500 pounds her... (view more)

My y9oungest son is 9 years old and weighs 146 lbs. he wears a size 34 waist men's shorts/pants and a M/L men's top. He's active but says he doesn't feel full when he eats. My son exhibits symptoms of ADHD and I have been doing research on both ADHD and childhood obesity. From what I have gathered so far, there is a connection between the two IF your child is NOT being treated for the ADHD. With my son being only 9 yrs old, I am more than a little hesitant to start him on a medication regimen. What if he needs medication? Ugh, I am at a loss and my wits end. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD about 8 months ago, am on medication, and have lost 52 pounds... but I'm also 38 yrs old. Not sure what to do! I'm so worried about him! It scares me because statistics show that most overweight 10 yr olds already have pre-symptoms/signs of having heart disease and their parents don't... (view more)

Hello all, my daughter Ellen was always a bit chubby since she hit puberty, but she was still active, so we didn't talk to her about her weight and her food choices. She has always been a girl that likes to eat a lot, but her swimming has kept the weight off i guess.
But now that she is 16 she obviously hangs around with friends a lot more and is a lot more independant. It seems to me she is not handling the responsablity well. We went to the doctors 3 months ago and i was told that she is bordering the overweight category, weighing 155 pounds. She promised to watch what she eats and exercise more.
I didn't think of this a big problem, because she has always been a bit chubby, but now that the weather is getting warmer i noticed she looked even heavier then 3 months ago! So i asked how much she weighed and she didn't want to tell me. So after a huge fight she finally stepped... (view more)

my daughter used to be chubby but then she started to loose weight. Now she is starting to gain even more than before. She weighs more than me and she even weighs more than her dad. After 2 years of gaining she gianed 245 pounds. Right now she weighs 398 pounds. She keeps complaining about her weight but she won't stick to a diet and reefuses to exercise or anything. All she does is eat and watch t.v. I don't know what to do with her. She keeps gaining and for dinner last night she ate half a pizza pie, a whole family size baked ziti and 2 penne alla vodka. for dessert she had half a cake and then when she got home she was still hungry so she ate 2 big bowls of cereal. Then when she went to bed she had to put on her pj and they ripped as she bent down to pink up her laptop. I really need help

Hello everyone, my son Jake has gotten really fat the past 2 years. Until he was 12 he was actually quite skinny! But the past 2 years he has been piling on weight. I guess he weighs around 200 lbs now.
My wife and I try to make healthy food, and our other son does have a healthy weight, but Jake keeps sneaking in junk food and candy. He also goes to burger king and other junk food restaurants with his friends after school.
I really hate to see that my son has become a lazy couch potato. His clothes are way too tight and je just hangs around the house all day with his fat belly sticking out. Someone got any tips to make him lose weight?

Hi, my daughter is 11 years old and weighs 127 pounds. She is a gymnast, so i know some of the weight is muscle, but she should weigh no more than 110. She herself is upset about the weight, but she cannot seem to lose it. We do not keep pop at our home and very little junk food. She has been gaining alot of weight lately and im not sure what to do, can someone give me some advice.
