So I got my son new clothes and he stopped complaining about the tightness, however, this morning I was able to go in a bit later to work so took the opportunity for a lie in. After he had been picked up for school I noticed there was a funny smell coming from his room and found a draw filled to overflowing with empty fast food containers and another with chip bags, candy bar wrappers, donut bags and more! I don't know how long they have been in there or why he has so many. His size is really starting to worry me. Advice would be great.

My son is 9 years old and he is the largest kid in his class. He keeps growing out of his clothing. Now he is a size 34 the same size as me, but Im way taller and very fit (im 38 years old). No one in our family is over weight on our side, but on his moms side several folks are over weight and i believe he could have their eating habits or slow metabolism Gene. He takes pride in food and will say he is hungry 20 min after a huge meal. His mother was had a eating disorder when she was younger, so I think she has trouble addressing the situation.
What to do? try to keep active? He is very active.
change his eating habits? He finds a way to eat more and he doesn't really eat junk.
Should I address it and tell him im worried about his health? His brother that is 5 and doesn't have a ounce of fat on his body is starting to make fun of him.
Both my self and my x wife haven't said a thing, but continue to try to get him to eat healthy and not over eat.
any input would be great!!!!!
thanks,
Jeff

My son started complaining this morning that his clothes are getting tight again. Apparently they've been feeling tight for about 2 weeks but now they are starting to be tight enough to hurt. What worries me is that I only just bought him new clothes in the summer and he doesn't look any taller. He doesn't ever let me weigh him so I don't know if he has gotten heavier and it's hard to tell if has gained weight or not. He is very resistant to any form of diet or exercise. I just don't know what to do.

Please help me, I need advice. My 15 year old daughter used to be fit - a good size. Now she's growing by the day (and I don't mean taller). She's carrying the extra weight around her middle and in her face. She also thinks she can still wear all the same clothes she did before, and needless to say they are not flattering or appropriate. I don't want to cause an eating disorder or anymore tension than already exists. I, too, am overweight, and I don't want her to battle this for the rest of her life. She has very bad eating habits and refuses to change. She also thinks her friends are "way bigger" than she is. She doesn't see it.

child is my foster granddaughter. She weighs well over 300 pounds closer to 400, I think. I am trying to help her with clothing and advice.
The main problem I am faceing is hygene. When approached as delicately as I could manage she said she cannot reach to wipe after bowl movement thus odor.
Is there a secret to doing this as I was left with no answer for her. Help.

Hey my name is Hannah I have 2 kids and they are both obese. My 1 year old Carly weighs 47lbs but that's not why I am writing. I am writing about my 10 year old daughter who weighs 250lbs and is growing. I am not sure wether it is in her genes because I weigh 500lbs myself. But she her friends are all so much smaller then her but they are all obese too. I tried putting her on a diet but she still eats and eats and eats. I don't know what to do!

Hi, I have three children, a son and two daughters. The two daughters are identical twins but they don't look very identical anymore. Emily never wants to eat and she has lost weight. But her sister Alexis has gained a lot of weight and is obese. I'm pretty sure Alexis is eating Emilys' food for her too. I'm scared to put Alexis on a diet. Emily is anorexic and I'm afraid if I push Alexis, she might end up the same way. I know it's usually best for the whole family to work together to help the overweight child, but my husband and I are healthy, are son is healthy and eats a lot to gain muscle. I can't exactly say no to Alexis and yes to Jake and Emily. And sometimes, I'll admit, I use extra butter or something so that however few bites Emily eats, will be more, but it's piling on Alexis mostly. Alexis has had to get all new clothes. She hangs out with friends who are also overweight. I... (view more)

Feeling overwhelmed with guilt. My child is 11 and weighs 240lbs. I have fought with my husband for years to help me keep his weight under control, but he still overfed him behind my back. My in-laws are all overweight and have complications because of it. My husband has become diabetic and takes blood pressure meds. I am overweight myself and have failed to control my own weight. Just feel defeated most of the time. I take my son to work out but he battles me and sneaks food. I am at my wits end. He has no motivation and he is a mirror image of his father;eats too much, too often, only wants to watch movies and play video games. I am the only person in my sons life that tries to make a change. What do you do when there are no strong male role models or any positive role models in your child' life? Sorry if I come off aggravated :-( I am....

My 18 yr old daughter has always been a "bigger" girl, but I had always kept her very active in sports so she always looked good/healthy. When she was 17, she started to have issues with anxiety and depression. She quit soccer and gained a bit of wt and started looking fat. Now she is secretly bing eating and has probably gained 50 pounds in the last 6 months. Most likely 220-250lbs. It's a sensitive subject. She's going away to college and I worry about her gaining another 50 lbs! (She is seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist) The rest of the family is ht/wt propotioned, we have nothing but healthy food in the house; but she goes to the store and buys bags full of junk food and sneaks it into her room( I find the empty packages) Help! What do I do!!! I am feeling embarrased by her and find her belly and heavy breathing repulsive, yet I adore her

My ten year old daughter, Skylar, is in the 95th percentile for weight in her age group making her obese She was very slim until about age 7 or 8, so when she started gaining I didn't think anything of it especially since I try to help my family lead a very healthy lifestyle, I love to run and we go on lots of walks and play sports together etc. However, she never stopped packing on the pounds and when the nurse pointed it out during a physical I knew I needed to do something. We don't keep any bad foods in the house and she plays sports, but I know that she loves sweets and eats tons of them when she's at school or friend's houses. I am cautious about the entire thing since she has not mentioned it and her behavior has not changed, so I don't want to hurt any feelings by broaching the topic. The long term effects of being overweight are devastating and I can already see her struggling more and more in her day to day life. I just don't know where to go from here, any advice?!

ok so my 8 year old daughter has always been fat as much as I try she just wont lose weight, I make her go in the garden and run but she is very unfit, anyway the other day I came downstairs at about one in the morning as I heard a noise and she was just in the kitchen eating a chocolate cake, she was eating it so fast like she was out of control cramming big slices into her porky hands and cramming it in her mouth, I was disgusted, I dragged her upstairs which caused tantrums then in her bed I found a bag of grated cheese that she has been eating.......she is so greedy im so ashamed

I am the mother of a beautiful 6 year old girl who is extremely overweight. I am very concerned because she seems to be gaining 7+ pounds every few months. I have currently entered her in the Yeah! program and hope that this works and teaches the whole family how to help her in a positive light. She is only in Kindergarten and has already been teased and she is sad a lot because she tells us she doesn't want to be fat. It breaks my heart for her, I don't want her to go through school being teased because of her weight. I am not sure what to say to a 6 year old to help her understand that she is beautiful and unfortunately people are very superficial and look to the outside more than the inside. Any suggestions on how to talk to her so she can understand?

My daughters weight is concerning me. She is 5"2 and 230 lbs. I talked to her about it, and she seemed to enjoy her fat. Many timesi have seen her playing with her rolls and caressing her overhang. She gets excitedwhen she tells me she has outgrown ger clotges, and sge likes to wear tight clothing that shows her bulge. Is it normal for my child to want to gain weight and be fat? Her jeans are way to small, and she can't even get them buttoned around her stomach. Her shirts are like crop tops now, because they only can cover half her belly. It mostly just hangs out of her clothes and sways around; it's kind of disgusting.... She is constantly eating, and one time she ate so much that she was literally unable to move. She refuses to try and loose weight and she loves her doughey body. I really want her to be healthy and active like a normal kid, but her love of eating and being large is going to rule and ruin her life. Please help!
