Hello,
I haven't really posted a lot here. I have an almost 13-year-old son who is about 45 pounds overweight. He lost 30 pounds a couple of years ago on the Trim Kids program. It's a book you can purchase at your book store or on Amazon. Anyway because we didn't keep up with the program and didn't do well with the exercise portion, he gained the weight back. I am starting again and I have a blog. Please read it. And feel free to leave comments or questions. www.fitmykid.blogspot.com. I hope we can help him and other paretns help their kids. Thanks, Michele

I'm beginning to worry about my fifteen year old son, Kaleb. He was always a pretty chubby kid growing up. Ever since he hit the kindergarten age, he's seemed to have been putting on a little bit too much weight each year. He only weighed about 130 pounds or so by the time he was eight years old in 3rd grade, and somehow really packed on an excessive amount of fat over the course of the next seven years. He now weighs about 305 pounds, according to the last time he weighed himself, which was a few days ago. He does like to eat a lot, he'll usually help himself until he feels as if he's gotten all the food he can get down. He doesn't excersise much, as he wears out very easily, but he does have gym class every weekday at school. His stomach does have stretch marks, I'm guessing from putting on so much weight, and he does have very large man boobs. He doesn't seem to be very embarrased by... (view more)

My daughter is 11 years old and 215 lbs. She cannot be left alone with food. She steals food and even eats food out of the trash. She will eat and eat until her stomach hurts and she will still ask for more. I had to take the rails off of her bed because she was stealing food and putting the wrappers and containers under her bed. It got so bad that I just stopped buying food. I would only keep enough food in the house for a day or two. That still doesn't work. Now, I have a lock on the pantry and a chain around the refrigerator. However, if I leave the pantry open just while I go to the bathroom for example, she's in there craming food in her mouth. She will eat an entire loaf of bread in less than a day. One morning I went to wake her up for school and she couldn't talk. Panicked I started shaking her. Only to find out that she had been up eating bread that night and fell asleep with a mouth full of bread. That's why she couldn't talk when I went to wake her up. She could have choked in her sleep. I am so fed up with it. I have to watch her constantly. HELP.

my daughter sam used to be a thin girl when she was younger. i think what happened was she followed her sister's eating habits, and grew less active. when she was around 8, i began to notice her stomach was a little round, but i thougt it was something she would grow out of. sam began eating bigger meals, and most of her clothes were too tight in a short perid of time. by the time she was 9, her weight had become 180 pounds. i didn't know she would get that big. she has a double chin, and her belly makes it very hard for her to get around. now, she weighs 210 pounds, and is close to not being able to walk. also, she told meshewants to bea model. what????!!!!pleasetellme how to help her loseweight.

Hi everyone my name is Linda. My daughter Brittany is 5 5 and 395 lbs. Brittany never can stop eating and when i try to make her stop she sneaks things to eat. i dont know how to make her stop and it worries me. I did not realize how bad her weight was until i took her to the doctor a couple of days ago and she was almost to big for them to weigh her on the scale they had her on. I need help! how do i make her stop and get up to exercise? all she wants to do is sit on the couch and eat all the time. She says she likes gaining weight and she was very excited when they weighed her the other day. She won't let me buy her new clothes because she likes them tight where all her fat hangs out. I don't understand this but ive let her for so long because it was what made her happy. please someone help me to motivate her to lose the weight. Thank you

My son is very obese. He is 5'3" and 350 pounds. He has a bmi of 58 which is 28 units over the obese mark. He just can't lose weight. We've tried everything. He was fine until he was about 8. Then he was 75 pounds. By his 9th birthday he was 145 pounds. By his 10th he was 230. By his 11th he was 275. He's now at 350. I'm worried that by next year he may make it to 400! HELP!

My daughter is 23 years old and she is a compulsive overeater. She is a single mother of a little girl who will turn five in May. The father of the girl has left my daughter when the child was 17 month old and she never heard of him again. My daughter than began to overeat and drink to much. She quit the drinking over a year ago but continued to overeat.
The little girl has always been a little chubby but in the last six month her weight has really increased. She gained at least 10 pounds. She already carries quite a belly. She weights a little over 50 pounds my daughter told me. I'm not sure how much a child of that age should weight. My daughter also told me that she allows the little girl to eat candy quite often, because she doesn't know how to explain her, why mommy is eating so much candy but why the child can't have it.
The little girl spend the last weekend at our house... (view more)

Okay, so nope, I'm not a parent, but I was bored and so nI was reading some of the posts on here, and WHOA! Hold on a second! Don't get me wrong, a lot of the parents on here are taking a very positive approach to their child's weight loss. But in contrast there are far too many parents who use words like "disgusting", "fat", and "lazy" to describe THEIR CHILD! And so many more who put phrases like "I'm humiliated" and "I don't know what to do". Stop and rewind for a sec; is this about YOU? I thought this was about YOUR CHILD! the one who desperately needs help and support, to lose weight. Who needs some one to turn to when they're bullied, or they don't know how to go about losing weight by themselves. It's just sick to be "humiliated" by your own child. If you don't support them no one will, and if they're unhappy about their weight, they'll do whatever they can to get rid of it. But... (view more)

Hi, Everyone,
I'm new here. My son is 12 and in 6th grade. He is 5 feet and weighs 160 pounds. We've been on and off diets since 4th grade. He once lost 30 pounds on the Trim Kids program (a book you can buy). Now we're currently doing Weight Watchers, which I think he likes the best.
It's such a struggle for me. I'm not really overweight and neither is my 14-year-old daughter. His stepdad could lose some weight, but Jake is sometimes the only one on a diet.
I get so many opinions from people. The attitudes I get are sometimes that I'm mean for making him be on a diet. When he's not on one, I get the other attitude, why aren't I helping him. You just can't do anything right as a parent sometimes.
Jake always feels like he's the only one. He hates himself.
Forever trying,
Michele

My child is teased all the time at school and has terrible self esteem issues. When shes depressed she eats and when she eats she gets more depressed because the fact that she ate that, meant she put on more weight. We dont have any junk food around but she will stuff herself on apples and 100 calorie packages. Its not healthy at all. We also have no idea what to do exercise wise. Shes 5'10 and weighs 250. Please help, I want to put an end to her depression.

hi I just want to tell you guys about my 12 year old son. My son Brendan is 5 ft 240 pounds. He gets made fun of all the time and just does not stop eating. One issue is we live next door to a Burger King which he eats at at least 2 times a day. I took him for a physical at the doctors and found out his arteries are clauged and he is 120 pounds over his normal weight. I blame that on me because I am 5'6 580 pounds and am out of shape too. My wife does not stop bringing junk food I to the house. And shopping for him is hard too I have to buy. Size 45 waist and have it taylored for his height. Recently when he went swimming his bathing suit ripped and even worse a boy went up to him and said get A bra you girl. Me and my son need some major changes but we just can't stop eating and sitting around any sujnestions.

My thanks to Michelle who wrote a response to the last message I posted. It was a very positive response. My daughter I believe is still at 170 lbs still will not get on the scales for me as she is embarrased about her weight. Since although my daughter is overweight but not as seriously as some of the children here, I would like to make it my first goal to get her to talk about her weight rather than lose it. I would like to have someone show how I can get her to open up about it, and a way that I can show her as much understanding as possible rather than judgement. I do love her regardless of what her weight is and I will still love her even if she gains. How can I get her to understand that if she loses weight she must do it for herself? Not for me.
