Hey all, i am writing this here because i don't know what to do with my daughter. Last year she was active, slim and went played sports. But that all changed, she started gaining weight pretty fast a couple months ago. She goes to the Mcdonalds and buys a lot of candy and such now. Last week i saw here in her now too small bikini and i was shocked. My once slim girl was now really 'fat'. She also has stretchmarks on her belly. So i had a talk with her about her weight, but she just shrugs it off. She just says:"Yea i am a bit chubby, but who cares". I weighed here and she weighs 178 lbs. But after that talk she didn't ajust here eating habits and kept eating junk food, ignoring all my advice. I am happy she is confident with her body, as she has no trouble going out to swim in a bikini, but i really would like her to lose weight. Sorry for the long story but is there anyway i can cinvince my dauther to lose weight or is it the hormones?

My 8yo daughter is 119 pounds and has been overweight since she was 3. She is an active kid who likes to eat. We control her portions and food at home, but it’s not so easy at day care, school, friend’s house, etc.
I was so proud of her last Saturday because after her soccer game they handed out pizza and cupcakes and she chose a small slice of pineapple pizza and declined the cupcake. But the girls on her team really encouraged her to eat the cupcake – because she “played so well and it tastes so good”. I know she wanted one and that it was so hard to say no. How do you help your kids handle these social eating situations? Soccer is an excellent and fun exercise for her but they always have junk food after all the games. The moms don’t want to switch to fruit or better choice because “the girls worked so hard”. It’s very frustrating.
It’s similar in other... (view more)

My daughter is 10 years old and weighs 150 lbs. Every say is a struggle with food in our house. My daughter eats 3 healthy meals a day with 2 healthy snacks too. We do not keep junk food in our house. I think she looks at food and puts weight on. We have done all we can for her, nutritionalist, endocrinologist, child psychologist all to mo avail. I know we need to get her moving more, as she is a sedentary kid but we do limit her tv to 2 hours a day. Our struggle is where to find her cloths. We are not in bad shape with tops, but are struggling finding her pants. Please, anybody with suggestions, please post.

Parents, I need your assistance. My little handsome boy is 7 1/2 years old and weigh 96 pounds at 54 inches. His doctor informed me yesterday because of this height, this pretty much "saves" him a little. He always implies on his stomach and gets tried easy. What should I do?

My child is overweight, but I do not think she is comfortable about talking about it with me. Whenever I ask her to read a pamphlet or article on weight loss she just says no and rolls her eyes. I really do not know how to communicate with my daughter about this! Please help!

Ok, so I am actually an overweight pre-teen. I wanted to ask you parents, how to persuade your mum you need to lose weight. I weigh 148 lbs and need to lose around 20lbs. I know I'm overweight and I struggle to lsoe because I have no support from my family. Every time i tell my mum I want to lose weight, she tells me I dont need to, but I know i do really. They often make comments about my weight, but they dont really help. They think ill become anorexic. How should I persuade them to help me lose?

I just discovered this website and I am thrilled. My daughter is 10, 4' 9" and weighs 130 pounds. i do not want her to have to fight all her life with food issues ans weight issues so I am trying to limit her portions and watch what I bring into the house. today she told me her friend gave her three snack size Butterfingers at school. How do I encourage her and make her realize she needs to loose weight for health reasons. I am so scared that she will end up with an eatin disorder like anarexia or bulimia so I don't know how to approach the issue with her without making her have a complex and possibly causing her to have an eating disorder.

My daughter is overweight and she knows iit. She is around 140 lbs and although she is growing she is gaining quite alot. I am concerned as her brother calls her "pig" and no maatter what I say to him, he wont stop. This is worrying me as anorexia and bullimia run in our family and I don't want my child to get either of these. Although she is quite tall fo her age, she is double the weight of some of her friends. She participate in PE, Netball, running and also cycles and plays football and rugby at the weekend, however she pig outs alot. She says she'd like to be 100lbs, but that is much too thin, considering she is also very stocky built. And one last thing- is it possible that she is just very stocky built, she can lift one friend on each arm???????? Thank you

But all she did was bulge all week and she never onced exercise. What does this mean? I never tell her that she is overweight, but now I feel like I have to bring it up sometime. Today, she mentioned to me that she was going to try to lose some weight. She wants to be 100 pounds before August. Any suggestions?

My son is 14 years old - 6 foot 2 and weighs 222 pounds. 41 inch waist (not pant size but actual waist measurement with a tape measure). Big, tall kid (definitely mine haha). After getting a physical recently, it came to our attention that he had gained 35 pounds in one year (obviously we weren't oblivious to it, he looked different to put it politely but his mom and I were surprised with just how much weight he had gained). We have always had a good relationship so I broached the subject gently with him - he has always been a little overweight but now that he's nearly 50 pounds overweight (a 14 year boy at 6 foot 2 should not weigh more than 178 pounds). I felt it was my duty to talk to him. He very politely told me he was OK with how he looked. I dropped the subject but I am now trying to garner advice on what is going on here. He looks fine but he has gone from looking regular big to ... (view more)
