My daughter Grace has a problem. She is 12 years old in 250 pounds. She eats nonstop. The only problem is that she has no idea, and at this point she really needs to know. Most of her weight is stored in her belly making it extremely flabby and have “rolls”. Her condition has gotten much much worse recently she has major trouble walking and can’t see or touch her toes, she also needs help getting dressed, getting in bed and getting in the car. Because she doesn’t know she wears cloths that do not flatter he such as tank tops and bikinis. She never exersizes despite me constantly telling and asking her to. I lead by example and run 12 miles each day and work out at the gym. She doesn’t eat bad she just over eats. Her friends are really sweet and don’t say anything but It’s very obvious. When she lays down she holds her belly and when she walks/attempts to run she has to hold it very tight as to not fall. There is a fine line between being fat and having fat and we have definitely crossed that line. She is morbidly obese and in the highest BMI percentile. I just don’t know what to do. I’m afraid for her health and just want her to be happy. Are there any other parents with similar problems???!!!! I don’t know what to do please comment, I need someone who can relate to this and help me

I’m not a parent, in fact I’m a 19 years old and almost a nurse. You could start by talking to her. Ask her how she feels about her weight and if she knows how bad it is to be this fat. Explain to her what will happen to her if she doesn’t stop gaining or if she doesn’t lose weight. She is 12 and probably about to hit puberty, meaning she will have some grow spurts. In puberty kids use more energy by default because off all the changes happening inside her body. You also mention that she doesn’t eat bad but just too much. Cut back her portions a little at a time. I think you don’t need her to run 12 miles a day. Just begin with a good talk and cutting back the amount of food slowly, combined with puberty will do a whole lot. You can always discus to go on a sport she likes. There are so much ways you can move. I hope this helped, even if it’s a little bit.

Hi, I don't have any advice for you as I need help myself but I wanted to let you know that your not alone. My daughter is 6 and weighs 150 pounds and I'm so afraid that she will continue on this path. My daughter is always hungry and eats the same portions as me :( I try to get her to eat healthy foods but she says she doesn't like it and then will cry for the snack she wants. I've been cooking healthier and bringing less bad foods I to the house but she's still steadily gaining. She loves to play but she has a much harder time doing things then the other kids and gets called fat at school. She loves being active but I'm afraid eventually she won't want to do that stuff because she will be self conscious :( I need help too. Does
Your daughter see a nutritionist or anything. I just signed up my daughter for a weight clinic so I'm hoping it helps. The only advice I have is to find one of those and maybe insist that she runs with you. Good luck :(
