I tried to talk to my daughter, Sammie. i told her that she needs to realize she is obese, and is setting unrealistic goals for herself, such as to be a swimsuit model like her brother has done once. she asked me why i pick on her because she isn't fat. i think she knows she is, but is embarrassed. we recently went to a dinner party, and a relative we haven't seen in a while thought she was the older sister. when we told her no, she patted sammie's large belly, and told her all the weight is unhealthy for her to have. she joked, and said she took her family's stomachs on herself. i can't really blame my relative, sammie wore a very tight button down shirt, and a skimpy skirt with one of my belts on the highest notch. the buttons were stretched over her, and her belly bulged over the top and bottom of the belt. what's worse is she ate two double hamburgers, and a giant slice of cake.... hello, i have a problem with my daughter, nd don't know what to do. i have two kids,a boy, and a girl. my son is sixteen, the oldest. he has no weight problem at all, other than he may be too thin. he has a very skinny waistline, and no stomach at all, he's flat as a board. this is because he does alot of activities, such as surfing, skateboarding, and other sports. not only that, but he has been interested in modeling too. my daughter, on the other hand, is only 12, and is the biggest in her family. alot of the weight is in her belly. also, she has a large double chin, and waddles when she walks, since she has gotten so big. whenever she get into fights with her brother, he pulls up her shirt, and grabs some of her belly with his hands. he tells her she is an obese whale with a belly the size of a mountain. then, she screams, and jumps on him, almost crushing him. we all know he is... I just want to let every one know that they should be very carful when it comes to pressuring children into diets. I was chubby as a child and always teased. So my parenst sent me to "fat camp" and put me on all sorts of diets. They were very strict with me and didn't ever let me even set my eyes on junk food. From a very young age they were showing me nutrition labels on foods. I never lost any weight until i took it into my own hands and starting starving myself with a 300 calorie diet. Everyone around me was happy because i was losing weight. It soon got to be such a big problem though, that i had to be hospitilized. I just want everyone to realize that your child isn't healthy if they are purging and starving even if they are losing weight. Make sure if your child is losing weight that you know how they are doing it. Because people that are starving themselves may still appear at a normal weight.

Hi! My daughter is 11 years old. She is 5'2" and weighs 195 lbs. I don't know what else do to to help her lose weight. I think it's more emotional. When she is feeling sad or bored she sneeks food. I have tried talking to her but nothing works. I can see her killing herself slowly and its killing me not being able to help her. please if anyone knows of something anything that I can do to help her. I was thinking about some kind of diet pills or something but I am afraid because of her age. Please, I am at the end of my rope.

I have a 6 year old little girl, who suffers from severe allergies and asthma. She is constantly on steriods that make her appitite very high. She is a big girl, 4ft2in and is 89 pounds. She is very proud of who she is and embraces her body. We neber say the "F" word(fat) in our house. Instead we openly talk about "Healthy" food and making the right choices. She totaly understands the differance between "Healthy" and "Junk" but still has a Big problem loosing any weight. She is very active. Cheerleading, bike riding, swimming, but still her body never changes. Iv talked to docs and they say to keep away from junk foods and sodas, but that is not the problem. I really think she has a medical issue that the docs wont belive me. Also taking constant Steroids isnt the best thing to do when your wanting to loose weight. She is the only one out of our 4 kids with this issue...Is there any other... (view more)

My little girl is five and already weights 63 pounds. She gained so much weight during the holidays. I don't know what to do anymore. She gets bigger and bigger. Just like I do. I am a compulsive overeater and she just loves to eat with me. She can eat as much as a grown up. During christmas she ate nonstop and I let her. All her clothes are very tight now and I already bought her some new ones. She needs clothes for an eight/nine year old child. It breaks my heart to see my little girl being so heavy. She has such a large belly and a double chin. Being heavy doesn't bother her at all - but maybe she is too young to really understand it. She is sometimes teased at school but it doesn't bother her. When I point out to her that she has a round belly she just says: Like you! and smiles at me!
Please help me and my daughter.

Hi, I'm looking for some advice. My 7 year old son is overweight. He has always been a big boy, he was 10 lbs. 4 oz at birth and has always been off the charts as far as height and weight. He is 4'3" tall and weighs 115 lbs. He is solid all over and strong as an ox. He is so sensitive and I am worried that the kids at school will start teasing him.
He really is very active. He plays baseball, basketball and football. He is constantly moving and I swear he doesn't eat all that much. He is very picky about what he eats. He will not touch any vegetable. basically the only thing he will eat is any kind of meat except hot dogs, pasta, bread, cereal, some fruits, cheese, yogurt.
We had blood test run about a year ago, because we were concerned that something was wrong. All test came back fine. And the Dr doesnt really seem too concerned, he said that he was just a big kid, that... (view more)
