I hope to reach my goal by next May. I have lots of time! Steady and slow! I'm glad you've found an outlet for stress...I'm an emotional eater. I eat when I'm bored, angry, upset. It's hard to control but I'm turning to my hobbies instead of food. Because I've been overweight for years and insecure and shy what tips do you have for getting out of my shell?

Eve, dont give up, keep excriseing, stay out of the kitchen and go outside for a walk, or running, or do a jog, I catch myself trying to eat when I dont need to, write in Diary to write your feelings, try riding your, bike, drink water when you are going to binge, it has 0 calories, I usually do writeing songs, porty.. Walk the dog or walk your friend;s dog or the neigbors's dog ask your partens permisson first.. I brush my teeth, it has worked for me, not to eat anymore food..

I know how you feel Molly. Go outside if you are upset, when I get upset, I walk my dog, pet my cat, she will meow and come running in like what wrong? I ride my scctor, or jog, I stay away from the kitchen, and the food. I only eat when I am really really hungrey, drink water, if you feel like you are going to binge count to 10-15 or put a timer on.. That usually. If that dose not work get help from a grownup, parent, or a cansler, teacher, they can help you... Or your doctor...
Dont give up for your weight goal...

Print out the no pig out poster on your fridge.. That is a good tool to stop the binging habit. Take a walk for 20 miuntes or even 30 miuntees.. I know how it feels. I found ways of quieting this habit. I chew gum it helps me not binge I write in my Diary or call my friends on the phones. Walk away from the kitchen and say to yourselg do I need to eat more? if the awnser is no. That means dont eat when you are not hungrey drink water that helps when I feel the craveing... I do running a lot... Lindsey. I hopes my ideas will help you... I quieted eating when my emoits are not good.

Well I'm sure I'm not your ideal weight :)(I weigh 202) not yet anyway but I have lost 26 pounds and yes good lord its one of the hardest things any of us on here will ever have to do some people don't have to worry about what they eat or how much of it, but for others like you and me food is away to relieve stress so first of all you need to find another way to relieve stress, anger and emotions in general. You don't need to get rid of every bad food in your kitchen today either but limit yourself and when you go to eat to much FIGHT YOURSELF mentally of course, ask yourself does the amount of food and what you want to weigh go hand and in hand. Direction determines destination meaning If you walk away from this computer and cut back on things you know are bad for you and try to work out for at least 30 minutes 3 times out of the week you'll be back to 120 in no time ;)

I used to emotionally eat at well. Do you know what emotions are causing you to overeat? Sometimes it helps to think what's the cause and then find solutions. I used to be around 220-230 and then once I dealt with my emotions, I got down to 170. Right now, I'm stressed and overeating again [back up to 190], but I'm working on it. Want to be diet buddies?

Wow. Sounds like the story of my life lol. Believe me, I completely get where you're coming from. It's amazing how telling yourself you're going to lose weight can make you so ravenously hungry, isn't it? Well, it looks like you and I have almost identical stats in terms of our weight and what we want to get down to, so I'll try and speak from my own experience.
I don't know what type of eater you are, but I'm an emotional snacker (self-titled lol). I eat when I'm happy, sad, mad, etc. and I also tend to graze instead of sitting down to eat a proper meal like I should. So as you can tell, I tend to eat A LOT!! There's nothing that makes me feel better than having a good book in one hand and food in the other, but there's nothing that makes me feel worse than how terrible I feel after I've consumed that food. One thing you need to start doing, and it's tough, believe me, is to try... (view more)

Hey Madi,
I totally understand what u r going through. I am not obese but i am over weight. Maybe if when you r sad or you feel like you have to turn to food for comfort try to put your mind in a diff. place like if you have a best friend write them a note or something or go talk to someone maybe not about food maybe about school or something.
I hope this helps you

drink water whenever you get the urge to eat after you are full. It fills your stomach up so you don't really feel like eating anymore. =) good luck

Well i dont want you to develope a eating disorder, trust me they arent fun...but really unless you want to spend the rest of you life going up and down on the scale and fighting with your body then go ahead...try to lose weight in a fast way....but there will never be an end, because it will keep coming back. so if you really want to be a sexier healthier you, then take your time, realize that nobody is rushing you, so you dont have to rush yourself.

I tend to eat when I'm bored too...but I've stopped now, seriously because that's how the pounds get on! just avoid the kitchen altogther. Eat small meals throughout the day...that way you won't eat for no reason other times. Just think about how you feel AFTER a binge...you know that yucky, terrible feeling afterwards? think about that feeling BEFORE you pick a food up for no reason and you won't binge anymore. It sounds easy but I know it's hard. You just have to change your mindset on the whole thing...control your mind, tell your brain that food isn't life. It can't control you but YOU can control it! good luckk....and anytime you feel like stuffing your face cause your bored, put the TV on and read a book or go for a walk or DRINK WATER or CHEW GUM. That helps, trust me! good luckk~

okay, food addiction means you eat to make yourself feel better when you are nervous, bored, lonely, depressed, sad, angry, or just not totally happy - you get the picture... anyways, to stop your addiction you need to stay away from foods your addicted to, like junk food or fast food, same as an alcoholic has to stay away from bars. . and you gotta go throuhg like 'detox'. . you will feel real bad cravings and nervous for a couple of weeks, then it gets better and better til you don't hardly miss the junk food.. okay, you still with me?, the second thing you gotta do is come up with things to do instead of eating when you feel nervous, bored, or stuff, like call a friend, take your dog for a walk, start a hobby, play a musical instrument, read a book, do a project, or anything you enjoy besides eating... and no second helpings or super sizes which is also part of food addiction.. . that's a lot to do i know and its not easy, but you are worth it!!! and we are here to help each other get through it, like comin off a drug... so go for it!!!! kk

Find other things to do. When you eat junk, you are not going towards the goals you want to accomplish. You are reversing them. So find other things that can comfort you when you get mad. Try a cardio workout dvd, maybe a kick-boxing one? Or try just taking a walk, going running, playing an instrument, reading, anything. Don't eat junk.
