You should eat more than 1000 calories because if you eat less than 1250 calories a day, your body will go into starvation mode which can lead to problems such as fainting and making your metabolism slow down. I suggest eating 1400 calories at a minimum so you don't injure your body nutriotional wise, make sure to get enough calcium and iron and stuff like that, or you'll be paying for it a few years down the road.

I don't want to sound like anybody's mother, but I can't stress enough to get good nutrition. I've read about some athletes such as runners and people who do gymnastics and in those sports, being the thinnest you can be means the better job you can do performing. These athletes don't eat properly, instead they take the easy way and eat all the low calorie drinks and stuff to make themselves skinny, or even worse, they don't eat at all and become anorexic, or they might even turn bulimic. Too bad to burst all your guys' bubble who believe you can get off on 500 calories a day, which is what some of them do, and in their mid 20's, you heard me right BETWEEN 20 and 25 they develope osteoperosis, cronic back pains, and fastly degrading immune systems because they didn't get the proper nutrition. Now, if you want to be super skinny right now and pay for it the rest of your life, go ahead, but... (view more)

that is one of the WORST things you could POSSIBLY do.
sorry for sounding all serious, but ur period could stop, muslces wear away, get serious infections in your stomach, some girls have even died from intense overuse of them, don't do it.

Matt,
I know that it doesn't feel good to be fat because I weigh 302, I think we think way too much about losing weight, instead of being healthy. Why don't you try some kind of activity that you like doing like swimming or riding a bike (so that it doesn't feel like exercise) and just try to eat healtier. I always have to tell myself that the food isn't going anywhere, especially during holidays. Eat a balance of meat, veggies, and carbs. And don't cheat yourself! If you want a piece of pie, then have one.
Think healthy, not thin!

That is right... when you starve your body turns to itself for fuel. So when it uses up your fat it turns to muscle, organs, ect anything it can to survive. That is why you all have to be VERY careful how hard you diet.

Listen up everybody! My mom told me something that she saw yesterday that she saw on the news. There were some athletes that were really talented at what they did. They starved themselves, and now they have curvature of the spin. Their bodies used their spines to get some energy. Can you imagine having osteoporosis at twenty-something? Don't do it. Eat right and exercise. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
=) GOD BLESS!!! =)

Imi
Of course I don't like dieting but I want to be healthy and look good and right now that is more important to me then eating Mcdonalds every day. You know what I ate today for supper - sweet & sour chicken (low fat but delicious) followed by a chocolate eclair (again, low fat). You don't have to give up all the food you love, just eat lower fat versions. You say you may die at 70 and not 73. I think you are way off base here. People die of heart disease in their 30s and 40s. I feel physically better since I lost weight. I can wear whatever clothes I want and not be embarrassed and have to go several sizes higher. You say I sound like your mum, well maybe your parents should counsel you and let you know what a dangerous way you are going if you carry on like this. It really is dumb.

Imi,
I hear what you are saying about it not affecting your life at the moment. I also know plenty of bigger people who are fit but I am just saying that you also have to think of the future and problems you will have later on. Obesity often is very serious as you do get older. I know it is hard to think of that now and when you are young but you really don't want to be ill later do you? Of course you have the freedom to do what you want to do. All I am saying is get the right information to hand on what could happen later on and then make your choice. It is kind of like a gamble but the odds of getting ill later are very, very high.

Look, you have to bring that weight down! I'm happy you have confidence and lots of friends BUT being too overweight can cause serious diseases like diabetes! I am concerned for your safety and I hope that you can realize the consequences of obesity before it is too late.

Not good to be so overweight. You are heading for very big health problems when you are older. You want a heart attack, not being able to walk properly, being out of breath, you go ahead then but you will regret it later. At some point way in the future you may have kids and a partner. You want to see your kids grow up and you want to be around then? You are getting into bad eating habits very young. Very, very dangerous.
