I have some time before I go to work, so I decided I'd tell you about my past habits before I met some helpful people along the way. I used to eat a small, unhealthy breakfast consisting of white bread and sweets. Then, I 'd pig out for lunch and have 2 or more pieces of cake for dessert. Then, half an hour before dinner, I'd eat 7 or 8 cookies hoping I'd spoil my appetite so I don't have to eat so much. Well, in reality, the cookies are higher in calorie than dinner itself. It didn't work, of course, and I ate a huge dinner and didn't stop until my stomach hurt. I felt like crap afterward, so I thought, "well since I screwed up today, I might as well eat more". So before bedtime EVERY NIGHT, I'd eat several donuts or half a box of Pot of Gold chocolates or a peanut butter sandwich. I couldn't sleep at night because my heart was beating so fast and my stomach hurt so much.... (view more)

My two biggest reasons for losing weight is trying to escape diseases such as diabetes and being able to do things i want to do without feeling like i'm out of breath.

type 2 diabetes can be reversed through healthy eating and exercise, so dont think of it as a life long disease because it can be beaten, seriously.

I have to clear up this little tif here. Walking, jogging or running the SAME DISTANCE burns the same amount of calories. Both are capable of burning fat however walking better as it is easier to keep your heart elevated for longer than 30 minutes through brisk walking. Running for more than 30 minutes is too hard on the body and stenuous on the joints. Walking does not burn the most "belly fat". When we lose weight we lose off all areas of the body, however most people tend to store more weight in the stomach which is why it always appears to be the area you lose from first.

Look matt, you dont want to be anorexic. It is a mental disease which haunts people their entire lives. Also, if you starve yourself or try to lose weight quickly, you with become a fat blob in the end. If your losing more than 2 lbs a week it means your body is feasting on itself for food by turning your muscles into energy. The body can only metabolise 2 lbs of fat a week. So to lose any more than that would be losing muscle and you lose tone and muscle burns more calories than fat so we dont want that. Seriously, you have come so far dont wreck it now. Just take this REALISTICALLY. You are young and have the rest of your life to live! If you just focus on a healthier lifestyle for the next six months you will be fine! Good luck and dont do anything stupid.

Hey Katie, this is the time when you should be extra careful about what you eat. You should exercise by walking daily. Make sure you drink LOTS of water, your baby needs this. Make sure you take prenatal vitamins, and be sure to see your doctor regularly. It gets harder to lose fat if you keep adding it on with pregnancy fat. good luck to you.

Matt,
I know that it doesn't feel good to be fat because I weigh 302, I think we think way too much about losing weight, instead of being healthy. Why don't you try some kind of activity that you like doing like swimming or riding a bike (so that it doesn't feel like exercise) and just try to eat healtier. I always have to tell myself that the food isn't going anywhere, especially during holidays. Eat a balance of meat, veggies, and carbs. And don't cheat yourself! If you want a piece of pie, then have one.
Think healthy, not thin!

That is right... when you starve your body turns to itself for fuel. So when it uses up your fat it turns to muscle, organs, ect anything it can to survive. That is why you all have to be VERY careful how hard you diet.
