Hi, my daughter is 8, 4'2, and weighs 120. I am extremely worried about her health. I have tried to change her eating habits for years but she argues with me until we I give in. I have seen 3 doctors regarding her weight and they all said the same thing. She will stretch as she gets older and she will definitely grow into her weight. Well, I just don't see it and that worries me even more. I need help in order to help my daughter. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I have two twin boys, named Nick and Alex. They look exactly the same and are very similar in personality. But there is one difference between them. Nick is 5'6" and weighs 130 lbs, which is healthy. Alex is 5'6" and weighs 195 lbs. I watch them eat, and oddly, Nick can eat anything under the sun, and will not gain an ounce. Alex can eat one cookie and gain 5 lbs. They both exercise the same amount, and they both eat alot. I do think that they eat too much, but how come Nick is so thin, and Alex obese, if they eat the same amount and exercise the same. I feel bad for Alex, being so fat. His brother always calls him fatso or fatty when they get in fights. I agree that he is too fat. His belly jiggles around and flabs over his pants, and he has so many fat rolls and blubbers. Help! I am overweight, and my husband is not.

Hey. My son is 4'7" and weighs 140 lbs. He is rather short, and is really overweight. He loves to eat in excess, cookies, cakes, fries, chips, and he hates to exercise. He stored all his extra weight in his abdomen and cannot do 1 sit-up. His stomach bulges over his jeans and he has huge lovehandles, underchins and cheeks. He really loves to eat. He can eat 3rds or 4ths at the dinner table and cannot go 1 hr without food. All he does is watch TV with his big belly hanging out of his shirt. I cannot find shirts for his width and height so he has to wear the biggest size, which are tight on him. The shirts are so tight that when he laughs his stomach jiggles out or when he coughs his stomach jiggles out. He is really lazy, and cannot run a lap around the gym, do a sit-up, pull-up, crunch or any type of light physical activity. He is developing asthma and sleep apnea. I was shocked while... Hello everyone! My son, Jason is 17 years old. He is 6'1" and weighs 265 pounds. I would like to explain his life before I talk to you about his weight problem.I adopted Jason when he was 6 years old. His biological parents abused him and starved him. He has scars on his back from his biological father whipping him with a belt and a huge scar on his lower stomach area from where his biological mother stabbed him with a knife. The government finally took him from his parents and put him into foster care. I fostered J for about a year and then I adopted him. When Jason first came to my home, he was 6 years old weighed about 35 pounds. He was skin and bones and afraid of everything. The first few months J was with me, he shovled food down his throat, because he never knew when his next meal was coming. It took me about 2 years to open up and start enjoying life and being a kid. I that 2... (view more)

Hi. My daugher is 14 and weighs about 195 pounds. She works out on the treadmill for 10 min and does her pilates vidoe every night. She also eats healthy. But when she goes to weigh herself, she says that she is getting a little heavier. She wants to get down to about 150 or 160(she still wants to have a little meat on her) She has stretch marks on her stomach and arms. She also gave up on chocolate, pop, and chips. Does anyone have any tips or a diet plan, without taking pills?

Hey all you parents out there. Dont get discouraged if your kids dont want your help! Its your job to be the mean person who tells us what we dont want to hear! Thats part of what parenting is about. And seriously, dont worry to much about upsetting your kids. I mean, I was completley hating my mother when she pointed out to me in the nicest way possible that i could benifit from losing a bit of weight. I felt betrayed, like, youre My Mother! your supposed to love me and think im perfect no matter what size. But of course, once i got over that, i relized shes right, and i could look better thinner. Of course i never told her this, cuz you know, cant let her win! So if your kid is at all like me, he/she appritiates your critism/help in some sort of twisted teenager way! So dont give up! We may hate you, BUT we still need you!

hi, i am 18 and just thought i would come here and check it out. i think you guys should encourage your children to get involved in something that they enjoy. my parents are always telling me "hey wow, your gut is huge, you really need to do something about it" and i hate it, they dont really try to help me, they just put me down. im not saying that you guys do that, but i think you need to learn how to say "no, dont eat that" or "why dont you have some fruit (or another small healthy snack)" and encourage them to get involved in something. just talk to your children and make them understand that being overweight is serious and try to do something together as a family to support them, dont make them do it themselves. hope this helps, i know i wish my parents would do that for me. ~*~ jaime

Hi Parents with overwgt kids. I am wondering if you have a hard time finding clothing that fit properly for your children. I was overwgt growing up and always had to wear clothes that look alot older than I did. My shop was sears. I am wondering if that has changed over the years?

Hi my name is michelle and my daughter is 5 1/2 and weighs 63 pounds, which normal range is 37-47 pounds. She is 3ft8in in height. I have to be honest I'm sure I have not helped her keep a healthy diet by letting her eat what she wants..I try to give a balanced meal at meal times, but her main problem is drinks and snacks she is constantly wanting a snack always hungry and always wants desert...she is not a couch potato..she plays inside/outside and I enrolled her in soccer to get her more active..i feel bad by telling her no I guess that is my problem...what should I do or start with to get her back on track to healthy eating. Thank you!Michelle
