I have an 11 year old boy. He now weighs 133lbs. He gained 10lbs over summer break. The big problem right now is that he has two older brothers (14 & 16) who eat tons of junk food and are both thin boys because they are very active. My 11 year old is very inactive because of some motor skill problems, and he is diagnosed as having aspergers syndrome, which is like a really mild form of autism. Anyway, he doesn't have any freinds to go out and play with, so he stays in alot and plays gameboy and watches TV. How can I deny the older, thinner boys, goodies, when they don't have a weight problem? Yet if I buy them stuff, the 11 year old will eat it too. How can I get the 11 year old active when he won't participate in team sports, and has no freinds to play with? Man we need some help here...

Our daughter is 10, moderately active and moderately overweight but on a worsening trend. She is happy to participate in physical activities, such as cycling, provided they are fun, but ask her to run or walk around the block or swim up and down the pool ...! Currently we have banned ice-cream, soft-drink, cheese, full-cream milk (skim only) and dinner sweets from the house. (Click here to see rest of message)

My daughter is turning 10 in a few weeks and she's a little too fat. My wife and I are big as well, but for a 9-year old to weigh around 275 pounds isn't right.

I haven't been around because I went on another buisness trip to Los Angeles for the past 2 1/2 weeks. My husband, Ben came with me so we left Jessica with his brother and his wife. They had 2 kids so we figured the would easily handle our 2 also. I thought that the fact that his brother was obese and so was his wife would have nothing to do with her weight but I was wrong. She now weighs 304, she gained 33 pounds in 2 weeks. We instructed them to feed her what was on her diet but she said every day they ate lunch at Burger King. How can I help her loose all of the weight because she has diabetes, high blood pressure and athsma. I would apreciate som halp thanks. Sincerley, Lindsay M.

Hi. My daughter just turned nine in June, and i honestly don't know her exact weight, but she is a short child and is large for her age. My mother took her school shopping yesterday, and found that she wears a girls size 14, and can even wear a women's size 4/6. This is not normal for a nine year old child. She also doesn't want to participate in a lot of physical activity, no matter how much my husband and I encourage her to. I really want to help her before it becomes an even bigger issue than it already is. She is oging into the fourth grade, and kids can really be cruel. I need to know how to handle this delicately. What should I do?

I have a strange request. My daughter is 7 years old and is kind of chunky. The family doctor says in order to maintain or lose weight, she needs to lose weight in her bottom. So what I'm asking all of you is what foods (in general) go directly to her butt, and what diets would help her maintain her weight.

I'm 12 years old, 5'3 and I weigh 191 (I'm telling the truth) The reason why I'm here is because I have a question that I don't think other kids my age could answer. They have this 'Natrual Herbal Slimming Tea' and my mom got me 2 boxes of it but I don't really know what the ingredients are. If you could tell me what: senna leaves, malva leaves, licorice root and panax ginseng root are I'd appreciate it a lot!!! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the Solution: Vicky 9-10pm for you is 10-11pm for the mountains reagon, 11pm-12am for central time, and 12-1am for the east coast. If we all could agree on a time Vicky are you free at 7-8pm instead? Then it would be as follows:West Coast: 7-8pmMountain Reagon: 8-9pmCentral Reagon:9-10pm East Coast: 10-11pmIf that's ok then we all could prehaps agree upon a day or two. Get back to me on the message board wirh a suggestion. thanks for your time!

This is not really 'weight related' but I have a problem and I need some advice. My daughter Maggie likes Eminem. I don't want her to be exposed to all of his explicit content, I mean all of his language and violence. Is there anything I could do to keep her away from him or what should I do. Everyone says I'm to overprotective of her I don't let her watch PG-13 movies I rarley even let her watch PG movies. She likes him though and I don't want her to. I need some help.

Hi everyone, My daughter will be 6 in oct and weighs about 88 lbs and is about 4'3. I am probably the most frustrated right now than I have ever been. She is constantly asking me to give her something to eat. I am very thin and eat very healthy and have always had a "weight conscious" so it is very hard for me to see her go through this. She really has never said anything about the way she looks but I know when school comes this fall kids are going to be mean and I'm not prepared for that. She is in a size 16 for kids so shopping is very stressful and of course she wants to wear all the cool stuff like the limited too has that is cute, but only on skinny kids. I have fat free foods in the house and skim milk and I limit sugar and try to get her to drink lots of water but she still constantly complains and whines that she wants cookies or she wants some chips ect. My family is no ... (view more)

my daughter is 13 years old and i very overweight. she is about 273 lbs. she is not even 5 feet tall. last week i took her to the doctors and he weighed her and she weighed 268 lbs. he put her on a diet and told me to weigh her every week or so but not more than that. when i weighed her yesterday she weighed 273 which means she gain 5 lbs. in a week... this makes me think she has not been following the diet but i am not sure how to confront her and help her stick to it. when i weighed her she said that it didn't matter if she gained weight because i was fat. which is not untrue (i am 5'5 390 lbs.) however i don't want my daughter to go through the things that i have to. i need to make her see this.
