Don't go on a diet. Make little lifestyle changes. You need to do something you'll be able to stick with for your whole life if you want to keep the results! Small portions, move as much as you can (like walking or biking to school, for example), and eat slowly -- savor every bite! Also, eat until you don't feel hungry anymore, not until you're stuffed. Then you will be hungry for the next meal, but you won't have that awful stuffed, tired feeling that comes after eating a lot (think Thanksgiving). As for the exercise, don't try to push yourself to do something you can't. For example, if you can't go to the gym for an hour every day, don't. Just move more than you do currently. If you normally drive to school, walk instead, and you'll immediately start feeling better and losing weight. And it will give you energy to want to move more. If you're far from school, walk the dog,... (view more)

Here's the thing Jeanie - no matter how much you want to, you CANNOT constantly compare yourself to your friends/others around you. If you do that, you are never going to be happy with who you are (spoken from tons of personal experience). You need to do what you feel is right for you and your body, not what you 'think' you should look like, etc. Believe me, I get it. I get being dissatisfied with your body when everyone around you seems to be stick thin. Eventually though, in order for you to grow into a young woman with a healthy self-esteem, you're going to need to learn to be happy with who YOU are, EXACTLY as you are. Now, I'm not saying that if you feel unhappy with your body weight you should stay there just because 'that's who you are'. If you truly believe that you could lead a healthier, happier life by losing a few pounds, then by all means, do it, but make sure you do it... (view more)

try cutting back on what you eat. if you usually have 4 or 5 slices of pizza, have 2 or 3... if you usually have 2 bowls of cereal in the morning, have 1. try it for a week and you'd be surprised how much weight you can lose. hope i helped

Keep with it!!
Think about summer. Its about 4 months away, and you want to be able to wear cute clothes and show off a nice body don't you! When ever I feel like eating some crappy food, I think of summer...bathing suits, tank tops, shorts. I want to look GOOD when summer rolls around. STICK WITH IT. Eat smaller portions drink water, and limit carbs/fat/sugar. YOU CAN DO IT

hi i used to weigh 300 pound and now i weigh 137. and i'm 5.6
i feel so great now.
but how i got there is that i went through my kitchen and took all of my junk food and threw it away or if it was unopened donate it to the mission.
and exercise 45 min everyday.
it took my one year to get to here.
so it will probably take you like 3-6 months

theres probably some kind of premade salads, or fruit salads, yogurts, fruits, cheese and crackers, nutrigrain bars, frozen dinners (if you have a microwave) just take a minute to browse around the store. stay away from the middle aisles because thats where all the junk is. around the perimeter is where the dairy, meat and fruits and veggies are. good luck

hey Amanda,
You should start off my eating better ( if you don't already ).
Like more veggies everyday, healthy snacks after supper if you're hungry.. lots of water, no more sugary drinks ( crystal light's just as awesome as juice)
and eat in small portions.
Just make sure when you eat, you're not so full that you can barely move ( believe me, i've been there my whole life haha)
just eat enough to feel comfortable, and teach yourself how to do it by starting off.
do this a week and you'll already start to feel better.
If you wanna help yourself, now's the time right?
after you start to feel better and maybe lose 10 pounds ( which you can do in about 2-3 weeks if you're 150lbs overweight like you say) , then you can start excersising a bit. do excersises that you're comfortable with doing though.
It doesn't take as long as you think.
You'll lose ten pounds and feel and look better, then 10 pounds more, then on and on.
Don't look at the big picture.
It pays off! It's better to lose it slowly than not lose at all right?

something that really worked for me, was only eat when you are hungry, if you're full, don't finish your plate because that's just a heap of extra calories you don't need. listen to your body. it's also fact that sometimes when we think we're hungry, we're actually thirsty, so drink a glass of water, wait 10 minutes and if you're stomach is still growling, eat something (healthy!) and stop when you are satisfied. if the growling goes away, you were just thirsty!. buy crystal light if you don't like water, but try and drink at least 2 glasses of pure water a day, it makes your skin really nice :) good luck hun

Aw it feels inpsiring to be an inspiration :) Ok I'll tell you how I lost what I lost (although I could've lost more. I messed up but now I'm getting back on track) Fad diets are too complicated in my opinion so try to ignore those unless you have the discipline to stick with it all the way through. Just do what WORKS for you. Try to get lots of aerobic exercise in and eat in small portions. I eat small meals every 3 hours and I don't eat anything after 7:30 pm. Eating every 3 hours will boost up your metabolism which will help you lose weight faster. Drink LOTS of water and substitute coke with diet coke (if you need soda). Treat yourself once in a while but remember, alwayss small amounts. If you're craving chips or something, don't eat directly from the bag. Place a handful in a bowl. If you're craving chocolate, try to eat dark chocolate instead. Eat a variety of fruits, vegtables,... (view more)

Hey all. I used to be a fat 'un, just thought i'd share me story. At 15 I weighed 15 stone, so thats about 210lbs. By 17 i was down to 10 n' 1/2 (so 147ish), and i'm still at that. Basically what i did was moved more and ate less. Lol, obviously thats a bit general. Pick a sport/exercise your good at and keep going with it. I could skip, we had a rope in the garden - there we go, daily workout. Food wise, i cut out the crap - crisps, choc, excess sugar on cereal etc. I cooked all my own meals and learnt how to make healthier snacks etc. Just exercising alone isn't enough. Try and get ya family in on it too or a buddy for support. The biggest factor is you have to WANT to do it. Stick with it. If people are giving you grief for being a chunker, dont turn to food, stick to your regime. Likewise, dont go too extreme on the health kick (sicking up/no eating etc). Lol! Thats pretty much it, I need to get ready to go to the bummers club. Tata!!

Hi Joe,
I used to have a weight problem and I took small steps and it made a big difference. I lost 50 pounds in 6 months! Sugary drinks were a lot of my problem (sodas and juice) - I switched to diet coke and just water (no apple juice or oj). I started walking more - just 20 minutes or so with my walkman and it wasn't even hard! Good luck -- don't worry, you aren't alone!!

Well I would have to know how much you want to loose! but all I can say is i lost weight by playing sports and walking but mostly running and you can always get a friend to do the same with you! I weigh 105 now but remember i never use to weigh that much i will tell u this it's hard work but it pays off all u have to do i work at it! you can do it. i would also say do eat much for lunch and supper eat but not a whole lot like cut what u normally eat in half that will also help and watch the fatty foods you eat cuz that doesn't help when your trying to loose weight!if u work hard it will pay off! but u just have to try it out don't go on a diet it doesn't work just lots of nutrition an working out works don't exspect a big change right away it will come over time but trust me u should see changes within a mounth that is if u work out every day.
