Ht. 5'5", Start: 187 lb, Today: 167 lb (BMI %tile: 95), Goal: 125 lb - Does anyone have any advice about overcoming weightloss plateaus? I've been off track for about 2 months because i wasn't seeing results as fast as i hoped to. I need some help involving motivation and temptation. When i see a food i like and i know its bad, i eat it anyway, but then regret it! Its so frustrating, so if anyone has some tips they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ht. 5'8", Start: 247 lb, Today: 221 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 147 lb - Thought i'de just share some tips for everyone that have helped me personally and I hope they can help someone else :) 1) only eat when you are hungry-don't stick to a schedule 2) stop eating when you are not hungry anymore - rather than when you're full 3) diet is more important then exercise so if you're just starting concentrate on what your eating - I restricted to 1600 cals and I'm never hungry 4) plan what your eating for the day and try and stick to it 5) allow yourselves treats - if you restricted these too much you will end up binging (pr I always did) I hope this helps someone and good luck everyone!

The good news is that he grew 4 inches and is now 5'1" and weighs 132 pounds. It was the first time since last fall since I saw him without a shirt and he has a round belly and lovehandles and a big puffy chest. The doctor met with me and my husband afterwards and told us that John is obese and we need to cut back on how much he eats. The doctor said he should weigh 100 lbs. The problem is how do I do that? When he asks for seconds, I ask him if he really wants more, he says he's still hungry and I don't want him to feel sad that we're depriving him so I give in and let him eat what he wants. I tried to cut back on snacks that we buy, like chips and cookies and ice cream but my husband likes them and told me to keep on buying what I always have because it's just a phase John is going through and when he gets taller his height will catch up to his weight. Yesterday we went to the beach and I noticed how every hour John went to buy snacks for himself, like hot dogs or ice cream and I noticed how he looks even bigger than he did 2 weeks ago and how tight his board shorts are that we bought him in April. I'm worried because of what the doctor said, that we have to help John cut back on what he eats or else he could become very fat. John is a good boy and I don't want to hurt his feelings by telling him how fat he looks now and my husband gets mad when I try to talk to him abut him. He says I should leave John's eating and weight alone and he's growing and that's why he eats a lot. So please, tell me what I should do. I think you needs know better than other parents. I'm really worried about John but I don't want to hurt his feelings, he had a real hard life before he came to live with us. THANKS. (view less)

Ht. 5'3", Start: 221 lb, Today: 219 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 170 lb - I just found this site. I saw that a few people were upset because no one is ever on to encourage them. Since I'm not a regular, I cannot guarantee that I'll be back often or at all. However, I will and can say this: every single one of you is strong. I'm struggling to lose the weight; chances are, you are, too. However, that struggle that you're putting up? It means that what you're struggling for is WORTH IT. You can make it if you really stick to it. I promise I will if you do, too. ;)

Ht. 5'6", Start: 12 st 7, Today: 12 st 7 (BMI %tile: 93), Goal: 10 st 0 - So I'm here again. I've put on 20 pounds over the past 2 years and am no longer at a healthy weight. I keep trying to loose weight but end up giving up after a few days. Hopefully this will be the last time. I would like to be 140 pounds by the time I start my final year at school in September. I'm going to start getting up at 6 so that I can go for an hour run before school 3 days a week. I'm going to cut down on the amount of chocolate and sweets i eat and only eat at meal times. I, am going to India in July and hopefully that will help me as I won't be eating unhealthy foods. Anyone else got any tips or want to be a weight loss buddy (Note: 12 st 7 is 175 lb.)
