I have negative self-esteem! What can I do?

=> I am overweight, and want to control, but follow for a few days then let go...please help me!! And I also have a negative self-esteem, how can i fix that?? Plz Help, i need to reduce my weight, before, my friends wedding, in january, i am now 72kg, and my height is 5'3( 156cm) , my goal weight is 58kg...Help me plz!!!!!!!!

Many kids trying to lose weight say they feel bad about themselves. This can make sticking to a healthy eating and activity plan harder. Helping your self esteem may help you reach your goals. Consider keeping track of the good things you hear about yourself or think about yourself everyday. Keep a notebook with you where you can jot down at least 3 positive things about yourself everyday. Look at these often. When you feel bad about a certain situation, write it down too. Write down this negative stuff on a separate piece of paper from the good stuff. After writing it down, tear it up into lots of pieces. Throw it away. You might want to talk with a parent, trusted adult, or school counselor about your hard times. Sometimes that helps some feel better about them. To stay motivated, consider the options mentioned above. Good luck!

=> I am 15 years old and am 5'5 and weigh about 155 lbs. i think i am really overweight, my friends say no i am normal. i really want to lose some weight before christmas! please help me!!

You have a set a goal for yourself to be healthier by Christmas. It's great that you want to be healthier for you yet consider a few things first. Check the weight calculator on this website to find out your healthy weight range. This can help you find the healthy weight loss goal for you so you don't become underweight by Christmas! Next, I would plan three healthy meals a day (don't skip meals). Include lots of fruits, veggies, whole grain breads, bagels, and cereals, low fat dairy products (low fat milk and yogurt), and lean meats. Try to drink less high calorie drinks like soda, fruits drinks, and juices. Drink water instead between meals and low fat milk at meals. Lastly, be more active. Try to do fun activities that get your heart beating faster. This helps your body use stored body fat as energy.

Depending on whether you are still growing in height, your weight loss should vary. Also, check with your doctor or dietitian to see what a healthy weight loss rate should be for you. For many people, it is about one pound per week. Good luck!

=> I am overweight and I have been like that for a while. I am now in cheerleading and trying out for basketball. I now also jog the only problem is that I do not eat right so all of the weight I lose from exercising I gain back by eating. I hate it and try but then I end up being more hungrey when I eat the healthy foods. I was told that I will get diabeties if I do not lose weight. Do u have any special dietthat I could do or any fun games to play in order to help me lose weight? thank you!

Seems like you are ready to be healthier! Good for you! There are many different ways to lose weight yet some are not healthy. Check with your doctor or dietitian before starting any weight loss plan. Over time, incorporate more fruits, veggies, whole grain breads, bagels, and cereals, low fat dairy products (low fat milk and yogurt), and lean meats. Try to drink less high calorie drinks like soda, fruits drinks, and juices. Drink water instead between meals and low fat milk at meals. Don't skip meals. Lastly, be more active. Try to do activities that are both fun and get your heart beating faster. This helps your body use stored body fat as energy. With all of these different things, try to incorporate one or two new healthy things a week. Losing weight is hard work, so find support to help you along the way, like a weight loss buddy. Keep checking in the bulletin boards and chat rooms to find this support while you are making the changes. Good luck!

 Help! I need motivation!

=> I want to lose weight but I don't have any motivation. What are ways I can get motivation? I'm 5'6'' and 220 pounds.

Losing weight can be a slow process which zaps many people's motivation. Without motivation, weight loss can be a challenge! Everyone is motivated by different things. Here are a few that work for some kids and teens:
• Make a list of all the reasons why you want to lose weight. Keep the list in a place where you will often notice it. Add more reasons as they come up.
• Keep track of what you eat and the exercise you do everyday. Once a week, note your weight or how differently your clothes fit.
• Grab an exercise buddy or weight loss buddy. This other person can help motivate you when you are not feeling like exercising or eating right. Further, you can help motivate them! If you don't know anyone who will be your weight loss buddy at home, check out the bulletin boards or chat rooms. Many people are looking for one!
• Set up a reward system for every positive change you make. Maybe pick a change (like drinking enough water or exercising for 30 minutes everyday) and after a week reward yourself if you did it. Pick a reward that does not include food. Rewards can be new exercise clothes, seeing a movie, a new shirt, or a book.
I hope these help! Stay motivated and you will reach your goal!

 Am I fat?

=> Hi I'm 10 years old and weigh 110. am i fat?

=> i'm 5' 10" and i weigh 190. i'm a 13 year old boy and i have a large build. how much should i loose?? and how, because i'm tired of having this belly!!!

=> Hi! It's nice to meet you. This is my first I mailed to you. Also I want to know that what number is the highest for overweight? Please mail me back.

A person's weight is not the only thing to consider when checking to see if the body is healthy. The person's height and age are other factors. Check out Blubberbuster's weight calculator. You can plug in your height, weight, and age into it to see whether you are considered at a healthy weight or not. Also, check with your doctor since they can help you with that too!

I just can't seem to get to a healthy weight.

=> I am 12 and I am overwieght I cry almost everynight because some kids make fun of me.i try to workout and eat healthy but it doesnt work.im afraid to take pills. what should i do? am i doomed to be fat forever

Seems like you feel like giving up on your weight loss plan because nothing seems to work! Teasing can be hard too and it can make some kids feel like giving up sooner! Make sure you have the support you need while trying to be healthier. The changes you are making may not appear right away. Keep trying and over weeks and months the changes will start to be clear. When times are rough, talk with a parent, your doctor, school counselor, or another trusted adult. Your sadness needs to come out and it may help you feel better to talk with someone about it.

Is it hard to lose weight?

=> was it hard to lose that weight? im 214 and im only 15!

Trying to get to a healthy weight is VERY hard work! Sometimes it may seem too hard yet don't give up! Keep being active most days of the week and eat healthy! All the small changes you make everyday will add up over weeks and months to a healthier body! Make sure you have support during this time. The support from family or friends can help you stick with it longer!

I am so upset that I am overweight.

=> I have some questions for you. I am 12 years old and i think I am overweight. I weigh approximitly 155-165. I want to lose at least 20-35 pounds so I can get a boyfriend and have people stop calling me names and saying that I am fat. So what I am trying to ask you is that: How can I lose weight and what foods should I eat to lose all this weight. Thanks for helping me, if you can.

=> hi i have a big problem i am in 8th grade and i weigh 168lbs. last year i weighed 150lbs. i cried all day when i herd how much fat i have gained and i dont know how to lose it i want to lose weight before school ends because i want to impress this guy that i really like and yea well if you have any advice for someone like me please email me back thanks

You are determined to be healthier! Sometimes the way people act around us can make us want to change our bodies. Further, our bodies sometimes change during puberty and there is nothing to do stop it! That can be very frustrating too. Seems like you see losing weight as a way to get a boyfriend or stop teasing. You maybe right yet you may not be. Losing weight to be healthier is one thing yet losing weight to impress others may not be healthy. Talk to someone you trust about the teasing and check out the chat rooms here. Many other people are teased because of how they look. It helps many kids to find others going through the same thing. Feeling better about yourself now can help you feel good enough to start eating healthy.

As for the foods, consider eating fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins everyday. Drink lots of water and stay away from high calorie drinks like sodas. Don't skip meals and stay active. That's lots of information so take it one step at a time. Good luck!

I want to lose weight, but my mom says I don't need to.

=> hi i read lucy's story and i was really shocked when i heard the part about being over weight can be good but im happy that you lost your weight. well i wanted to tell you somthings about me..........i am 12 years old i weigh 164pounds and every time that i say somthing about how i want to loose weight my mom gets mad and says that i am just growing .....but i really want to loose weight .........please help me

You seem concerned about your health and frustrated that your mom isn't. Your mom maybe concerned that your weight loss goals are unhealthy. She also seems to appreciate you as a unique person who already looks great. Consider asking her to let you see your pediatrician or family doctor. He or she can give you a physical and talk to you about your healthy weight range. From there, you and your mom can set healthy goals based on what the doctor says. Good luck!

How can I get rid of fat in certain areas?

=> EYY DO U KNOW ANY QUCIK EXCERSIES THAT I CAN DO FORMY STOMACH!! THANKK YOU@

=> HOW CAN I GET RID OF LOWER BODY FAT..AROUND YOUR HIPPS?

=> HOW CAN I LOSE HIP FAT FROM MY LOWER BODY AND THIGHS?

Many kids are unhappy with certain parts of their body and would like to lose fat in just one area. Some products advertised often brag about the ability to "spot" reduce or remove fat from one area of your body. These products are not usually helpful for a person who is trying to lose weight. Your body cannot lose weight in just one area. To lose weight by losing body fat, it helps to increase activities that get your heart pumping more. Exercises that make your heart beat faster are called cardiovascular exercises. Try to do some most days of the week. Try dancing, swimming, walking, playing basketball, hockey, and many more. These types of activities will help your body fat be used for fuel. Then, body fat will eventually start to disappear. The places you want to lose weight may not be the first to go away. Over time, your whole body will be affected by the cardiovascular exercise including those areas in question. Building muscle in areas that may be smaller (like shoulders and chest) may make your body look more proportional.
