I am writing for advice about my grandson Bobby. Last year, our don, Bobby's father remarried after being divorced from Bobby's mom for three years (our son has custody of Bobby) Our new daughter-in-law is a very nice person. The problem is that since the marriage, Bobby has put on a lot of weight and has gone from thin to very fat. He's staying with us this weekend, and i got him on the scale this morning. He weighs 162 pounds! My husband and I are both thin and don't overeat. When Boddy spends weekends with us, he pouts if we don't give him extra portions and if we take him shopping he always wants to stop for a snack. He was never like this before our son remarried (Our son has gained weight too). My husband tells me to mind my own business but I'm worried about Bobby. He looks like a totally different boy with his big belly and backside and round face. What can I do?

Your son is in denial and it sounds like your daughter-in-law knows no otherwise than overeating. No sense talking with her, and you want to keep a good relationship with her, your son, and your grandson. Maybe when he gets older he'll decide to do something about his weight. Please let us no in the future how he's doing
Reply from Betty, Child's Age 9 - 04/14/26 - IP#: 72.253.79.xxx Thanks for your response, Jesse. I'll try to answer your questions, Bobby is tall for age. I believe is 58" tall. His birth mother abandoned the family when Bobby was 5, She ran off with a boyfriend. It was a surprise to all oif us and especially hard for our son and Bobby, She has had no contact with Bobby since she left, Her parents live in Colombia and they have no contact with Bobby either, When Bobby was 7, our son remarried to Sue. Friends of his fxed him up with Sue on a blind date. Ron (our son) and Sue were married 4 months later. Sue was an elementary school eacher, but after they were married, Rob wanted her to be a stay-at-home tmom for Bobby and Sue agreed. I should tell you that Sue is very heavy. Her whole family are large (we've met them at family funstions). Sue is a great mom for Bobby. He even calls her "mom", but she is th ecause for Bobby pitting on so much weight, She cooks large meals as loves to bake. She often invites us for meals and I've noticed how Rob, Sue, and Bobby pile their plates with food and take second helpings. There is always homemade dessert. They lives three blocks from Bobby;s school, but Rob drops him off in the morning on the way to work and Sue picks him up after school. He used to ply youth soccer but quit last year, Rob told me that Bobby didn't like all the running. He has friends at school and they come over to the house and the boys play video games or watch television. As I said, Sue loves to bake and Bobby is her "taste tester" when he comes home from school. They always have an evening snack too. A couplke of moths ago I spoke with Ron about how fat Bobby is getting, and he told me there's no problem, he's just big boy. Rob is put on a lot of weight since he married Sue, too. So, I just don't kniw what to do.
Reply from Jesse, Child's Age 10 - 04/12/26 - IP#: 174.202.0.xxx I can see why you're worried. 162 pounds at age 9 is big. How tall is he? What does Bobby's real mother think? Is Bobby active? You mentioned your daughter-in-law being very nice. Can you talk with her? Hope this helps
