I'm a young single mother with a five year old girl. My problem is that I'm overweight and my daughter is also. I weight 165 pounds (at 5'4), up from 120 pounds three years ago. My little girl already weights 54 pounds.
I'm a binge eater and I know that I quite often make bad food choices, like going to McD. or buying sweets. We also eat icecream at least 3 times a week.
Now that summer is coming we spend a lot of time outdoors, like going to the playground. My daughter also will get her first bike for her 5th birthday come friday.

Here's help for both of you. Have ice cream just ONCE a week, cut back on mcds and sweets, add more fruit and veg (remember 5 a day) also drink more water as that helps flush out fat. A good way to execise is by going on walks together and bike rides.

just try completely cutting out any drinks that have significant calories in. so just let them have like water and sugar free squash. seriously you'd be surprised how many extra calories a kid consumes just from drinks

hi elizabeth, my daughter was 54lbs at the age of 4. she is now 12 and her weight is now 225lbs. change the way you eat now it will be worth it in the future. a few things my doctors told me give her more vegetables, no soda, or whole milk. switch to fat free milk, try suger free kool aid. my sons favorite is the crystal light lemonaid (its suger-free) i am currently changing the way we eat alot . talk to your daughters doctor too for tips. maybe a nutricionist could help you both get on track too. if you want we could chat more. my email :allisonjust2@aol.com
