My daughter is 14 and is just eating herself into what I feel is an early grave. She has been to the doctor and the doctor has put her on a diet, that has not helped. I had to change everything that I buy in the house I had to change the diet of my younger two children just to encourage my daughter. Although I never cooked fried foods, or let them have a lot of junk food she still eat out of control. If you don't finish your food on your plate she will eat her food and the left overs on everyone else's plate. She is up all night eating she constantly eat all day. She has high cholesterol at the age of 14 and has now started having blood pressure problems. She weighs more than I do which is sad she is 265 and 5'8" I am 135 5'6". I have constantly told her that food is not her friend and if she has problems please come to me and talk about it don't try to eat it away. I work out a lot due to my back problems and exercise has to be part of my daily regimine per my doctor. I get her out with me daily and she don't even try or put an effort into walking. She just don't know the heartache I feel due to her not being healthy. It hurts really bad and I cry often because I know how cruel the kids are and I don't want her feeling like she has to buy friends just because of her size or let people treat her any way just for them to be her friend. I am really scared at this point that my child is going to have a heart attack and die! I just don't know what to do anymore......

yes tell her food is not her enemy and one day you may be having the opposite problem. she becomes bulimic or anorexic. You have to watch them and if they are really eating that much that often you need to find a doctor who can give you a real reason. there may be a problem you and your doctor are unaware of

Mom: You have to teach your daughter better table manners, if she's cleaning other's plates. That's unacceptable behavior. Overeating is rude behavior. You are greedy. You aren't hungry and you're eating more than you deserve. You are taking more than your fair share.

Hi, Latoisha. I understand how you feel. My son is 12 and is now 183 lbs. He is build "stocky", so he doesn't look obese, but he is putting his weight on fast. He's gained over 20 lbs since January. Like you, I've tried to get him to join me in exercise or go out and run or ride his bike, but he just wants to sit around. He's had kids make fun of him at school, especially in P.E. because they change clothes. You have every reason to be concerned! I just recently decided to take action. Instead of putting my son on a "diet", I'm limiting his portions. I showed him how to read the nutritional labels on the food packages so he will know just how much is considered a "serving". I'm going to encourage his brothers to play outside with him more so he is exercising without realizing it.
As far as advice for you, I don't have anything profound because I am in the same boat. However, feel free to contact me if you need some support :)

Don't let people put you or your daughter down, I understand that you are just trying to keep your daughter from having her feelings hurt not that you think she is a loser, you just don't want people like bullies to pick on her because Like Jeremy said todays society is all about discrimination towards people who arent perfect

Well, have you stopped and thought that maybe she likes being the way she is? Also, you say that children can be cruel and that she has to buy her own friends: That's just saying to me that you think that her weight will make her a loser! You should never act like her weight will make her an outcast. If anything she will probably have tons of friends for all you know! So stop acting like her weight is ruining her life, when it's actually society, and people like you who support it!

My friends daughter had the same problem I don't know if this will help you but you could try using those small plates when serving dinner, like the ones many people use for side dishes. Also, check the serving size on what you are giving your family for example one serving of pasta is usually only like 1/4-1/2 a cup so try only making enough so that everyone can have one serving so there will be no leftovers.
