An update on my daughter: I have posted here several times about my daughter Lisa.
But since January things went really bad. I talked to my daughter about going to a doctor. But she refused, as she is embarrased about her body. So I didn't took her.
Since than she became bigger and bigger. She is constantly eating and is buying herself chocolate, chips and ice-crea,. She turned 10 last month and I talked her into going on the scale again. She is now 4.8 and weights in at 208 pounds. She wears clothes in plus size women 22.
She has no friends and is teased at school about her weight. Now that summer vacation is here she just sits at home, reads books and is constantly eating. I' m really concerned about her. She can only walk for about 5 minutes and than gets tired. The biggest problem seems to be her belly, as most of the weight is in her belly. It measures 63 inches. She holds it constantly when she is walking. And recently she also started to hold it when she is lying on her side.
I don't know what to do anymore.
PLEASE HELP ME!

It strikes me that Jeremy's comment wasn't particularly helpful. As he admits to being 15 he is probably either a 'gainer' or has a fetish for other people being overweight (or possibly both). Now, whilst it is possible that your girl IS a 'gainer' (one who gains weight for the sake of it\pleasure), at 10 years old she is probably either just addicted to food or else sacred of the effort it would take to lose the weight. Talk to your girl privately, explain the problem & that you are worried. Good luck.

I finally was able to ask my daughter why she was always holding her belly too. She said she holds it or crosses her arms, because she thinks it helps block the size of her stomach, so no one will see her fat jiggle when she walks.

well i would take it in strides you know maybe just have her cut back on sweets a little at a time, and have her exercise a little at a time and work your way up, and do fun activities like dance or tennis or others you think up, and try to make it positive and she will get friends no matter what maybe in middle or high school but it will happen, and some might be baby fat and growing into the body so give it some time. any futher comments, email wildernes44494@yahoo.com

Thanks for your replays. My daughter holds her belly because it is so heavy. I asked her about it and she said that it is too heavy for her.

Gosh, you all make it sound like she's holding her belly because she doesn't like the weight. Ever think that she just likes how it feels?

Why does your daughter hold her belly? Is it just the weight of it?
I've also got an overweight son, he's 9 and 145lbs, 4'2. Most of the weight gain has been since Christmas, he won't say why but he's been eating more. I suspect he's being bullied at school and have been in to talk to the principal about it several times but he, and Liam's class teacher claim that he's not being bullied. He got out of school about 3 weeks or so ago and has pretty much been rooted to the couch, except when he goes down to the shops with my eldest (he drives down there too, so its no exercise).

Why does she hold her belly? Does she have a stomachache or is she trying to hold it up so it won't feel so heavy?
