I am looking for a website that shows the average weight & height for children. One of my daughters is 9 1/2 and is 85 pounds but she is extremely tall. (her sister is a twig !) Her doctor said she gained a lot this past year but isnt worried about it. She went from 66 pounds in 8/99 to the 85 pounds she is today. I know children put on extra weight before entering puberty but because I had such trouble with weight as a pre-teen and I am now seriously overweight, I want to avoid her having the same struggles. We dont allow chips & junk in the house , very rarely allow them to have soda. They eat good food, mini rice cakes, popcorn, fruit, vegetables & such. They are pretty active in the spring & summer but winter is tough.I just want to know what the norm is for their age. I dont want to panic or cause them to have a complex. But if I can prevent what happened to me from happening to them, I will do it in a second.

At the entry of this website their is an icon leading in to a weight chart. ALso the website www.slimkids.com has a weight chart in the begining.

The CDC has height/weight/bmi charts that have been updated as recently as March 2000. When looking at your child's weight also take into consideration his or her frame size. I have yet to find a chart that takes into account a child's bone structure. My 11 year old is 4'10", 105 lbs. with a large bone structure. She is rail thin but charts have said she is at risk of being overweight. Don't rely on the charts alone - use your own good judgement.
