Before you post a reply saying that your child is overweight or that you want them to lose weight, please first check our Weight Calculator. If the calculator says that your child is healthy weight, please do not post a message saying that they are overweight or that you want them to lose weight.  This offends the kids who really are overweight.  Thanks a lot.

If you are an adult and not a parent, type your child's age as '0'

From Susan, child's age 9

I am looking for a website that shows the average weight & height for children. One of my daughters is 9 1/2 and is 85 pounds but she is extremely tall. (her sister is a twig !) Her doctor said she gained a lot this past year but isnt worried about it. She went from 66 pounds in 8/99 to the 85 pounds she is today. I know children put on extra weight before entering puberty but because I had such trouble with weight as a pre-teen and I am now seriously overweight, I want to avoid her having the same struggles. We dont allow chips & junk in the house , very rarely allow them to have soda. They eat good food, mini rice cakes, popcorn, fruit, vegetables & such. They are pretty active in the spring & summer but winter is tough.I just want to know what the norm is for their age. I dont want to panic or cause them to have a complex. But if I can prevent what happened to me from happening to them, I will do it in a second.
