Hi! My name is Laura and I'm fifteen years old. I'm really fat. But I never weighted myself. On Wednesday I went to a doctor and he wanted to weight me. I was afraid that he would tell me that I'm overweight. I thought that maybe I would weight 200 pounds. When I stepped on the scale and the numbers came up, I was really shocked. It read that I weight 463 pounds. The doctor told me that I need to loose weight fast. He said that I'm morbidly obese and that I have a BMI of 88. My mother is also overweight. Since I was nine years old we have always in the evening eaten junk food together while we sat in front of the television. So during the last six years I got fatter and fatter. Now I eat all day. Mostly chips, chocolate and ice-cream. I eat until my stomach hurts. Please help me to loose weight.
Reply from Marie, Age 13 - 01/03/05 - IP#: 209.205.159.xxx i think you should eat until you don't want no more you are suppose to eat to live not because you want too try to not eat any type of grains like breads,rice cakes,and plain rice and stuff like that don't drink diet sodas cuz it is really not good for you not even regular try to walk at least for 15 minutes a day it will work then as start to loose weight you can do more please promise me don't go on a crash diet or starvation cuz that doesn't work it only makes it worst never give up if you r not loosing don't worry just rememeber did you cheat on your diet cuz that might happen along the road of dieting just keep your head up and smile luv ya

Reply from Katherine, Age 17 - 12/28/04 - IP#: 195.93.33.xxx Hi Laura, it sounds like you've got yourself into bad habits, and the best way for you to lose weight, is for you and your mum to help eachother. Your heart is under serious stress from all the extra weight you're carrying around and you're doing yourself serious damage. You need to lose roughly 315 lbs, but over a long period of time, like a year and a half or something. I won't pretend it's going to be easier, but the sooner you get yourself into a routine of eating and exercising properley you'll find it gets much much easier. What you need to do is write a list of things you're going to allow yourself to eat on that particular day and stick to it, ticking off the food items as you go along. By no means whatsoever are you to eat anything that is not on your list. This list will allow you to give yourself a treat say, once a week and keep a track on it. You also need to start doing some good exercise to help you maintain your weight loss, and to help your heart under all that strain. Try by walking for 30 minutes three times a week. Why don't you and your mum do this together? If you combine these two things you will notice the pounds shed away. You'll lose about 8lbs in the first few weeks and about 5lbs from then on which is great for you! There is hope Laura, you just need the willpower to do it! I know you must be really upset with being told your morbidly obese but look at it from the perspective that this is a new chapter for you, and you can start to get your life back on track again. It's a chance for you to be healthy, and seriously, you'll feel the benefits!!

Eat till you think "hey okay i am not full but i am satisfied" this way 20 mins later when your brain catches up (i know dumb thing to think about but true) it will regester full and you won't be overly sickingly full.- nattie
Reply from chelese, Age 13 - 12/25/04 - IP#: 24.240.242.xxx start asking friends to go on walks. you won't sit in front of the t.v. as much, and you could get to really know your friends. i snack all the time too, it just feels like im not quite full, then it hits me after my 3rd sandwich comlimented with chips,soda,and candy, that i have eaten so much.i know im not the person to be giving weight lose tips, considering im overweight myself, but i knowalot about it i just don't have the will power to lose it.

Its real good that you've decided to try and lose weight. your first step to losin weight should be to cut down on the food you eat (especially junk food).you dont have to eat much less than you do now, you could just replace some of it with healthier foods.food like chips which are full of saturated fat and if you eat too much it will clog up your arteries(causin heart attacks and stuff like that).sorry im not tryin to scare you, but i think its important for you to know this.If you want to get rid of this fat in your veins and arteries you should eat onions cos they help clean the blood,and foods rich in omega 6.Omega 6 can be found in oily fish like sardines and tuna. As you get used to eatin less junk food you could work on gradually reducing your food intake.Try and become a bit more active.i wouldn't recommend that you start exercisin cos it could be dangerous for you.jus try not to stay in front of the T.V. Try and keep yourself busy,this will mean you will forget about food, and will help you get rid of cravins.when you've lost about 200 pounds you could start doin light exercise,but take it easy on yourself. hope you do well in losin weight. My brother is really skinny and he decides to buy the most fattening food!! (he is 15) I weigh more than everyone in my family, even my dad!!! If I were you I would ask your doctor for a diet plan that would fit you. I would also go to a nutrionist. I was about to go this year, but we had to cancel. My friend's mom said that nutrionists really do work! I hoped i helped a little! *jenn*
