Ok starting monday I'm serious about dieting. I'm going to do this everyday and see how I go and then I'll tell how I went. 1500 calories a day, 25grams of fat or less and 40 minutes of brisk walking about 5-6 days a week. And lots of water, and no eating after 8pm. How does that sound? Also, does anyone know if it is ok to eat less than 1200 calories? Like is it ok to eat 1100 cals? Cause I've read your metabolism slows down if you go under 1200. Thanks to anyone who replies and I'll get back to you with the results in about 2-3 weeks! Bye!

Sorry if what I wrote was confusing. I was trying to say that, if you eat Less than 1500 calories each day, you will have to do it forever. Otherwise, when you go back to eating normally (more than 1500) you will gain weight. So, you might lose 30 pounds or whatever on a low calorie diet but if you then go back to eating more calories you will gain weight. You Will lose weight quicker on 1200 or 1100, etc. but it will not stay off if you go back to normal eating, cos your body will think it has been starved and so will hang onto whatever it gets as soon as it starts getting more calories again!!! Eating 1500 calories per day (no more) with low fat (25g is good) with some exercise you should lose weight steadily which will stay off. Of course this is Average and the measures will be different for some people it depends on your height and bone structure and how much muscle u have (i have read ur posts so i know u know this!). But 1500 per day sounds best. Keep posting and let me know how you go!!!! I hope this is clearer. Georgina

Thanks for posting, but I'm really confused by what you said. I know that weight loss is a lifestyle change. In fact, I have been exercising almost every day for the past 4 years. I just have problems with controlling my food intake which is why i calorie count, as it helps me keep track. Im just confused about what you said. Are you saying that if you go under 1500 calories you will gain weight if you eat more than that? So should I eat more than 1500 cals? Cause if i do i wont lose anything. And also, I do eat low fat, I have been for years. Its the amount of food thats a problem for me. I stated that I was to have under 25 grams a day. Thanks so much for your post but I'd be great if you could clear up whether or not i should go below 1500. thanks heaps!

For most people, if you go less than 1500 calories you will have to do it for the rest of your life, otherwise the weight will go back on when you stop. This is an unfortunate but unavoidable fact!!! It is a fact that lots of kids here and people everywhere are in denial about but it is true! That is why it is known scientifically that diets do not work. Permanent change of lifestyle works with regular exercise and a sensible LOW-FAT eating plan. Learning to know when you have eaten enough and eating a wide range of low fat food. An eating plan which is flexible and you can stick to it forever and it will protect your health as well as make you slim. I can see lots of kids here who are desperate to be slim, but this is the ONLY way to STAY slim once you get there!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
