Ok, this is a post about committment. I am currently overweight, and I have started to endure in cardiorepiratory work outs...but the problem is, how do I stay on task? I tend to slack off because I get discouraged. I have a very low metabolism, so I lose weight VERY slowly, and it's hard...I am currently in a size 16-18, and I guess my first goal is to get down to a 13...then work from there. I don't need tips on how to diet or exercise but of commitment and dedication. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks a bunch! :)

please don't give up.When I was a teenager,Iwas 125 , and could eat what ever I wanted and as much as I wanted. After I turned 20,that changed.I wasn't hanging out with my friends as often. Then before I knew it I had gained 20 lbs.About four years later and at my heavyest 205lbs.I deceiced to lose some weight. And I did.I got to 145.I stayed there for about five years.
Then I started to see-saw with my weight.Gain 40 ,lose 20, gain 30 and then lose some again. Then in March of 2000 Iwas back up to 193lbs.I was wearing 20's and 22,s.I didn't like myself very much. Here I was 37 years old.weighting 195.I knew the older Igot, the harder it would be.But I knew I had to lose weight.SO that March I started, Ihate to call it a diet, cause it wasn't really.I simpley ate less and did more.I like to work in my yards. When I'm out there I lose track of time. I'm busy and don't think of eatting. And most important,I wasn't sitting. Sitting and EATTING.By Sept. I was down to 158.That was 6 mos.,and 32 lbs. Then the weather started to change, started getting cooler. And I prefered to stay inside. Iknew I would have to watch my self, or I would gain to much back.If I found myself sitting around.Iwould get up and do something, like housework, rearrange something.Well I made it though the winter, and weighed 160. But I did see-saw with my weight. But I knew if I could keep it below 170lbs. that once March came I would be back out in my yards.Right now I'm 154. I don't want to be 125lbs. again but 140 would be nice.About a size 10 or 12.By the way I'm 5'7 and average frame. So thats about what I need to be.
I also know that once I reach the weight I want.I'll have to watch myself still. I'll need to check my weight.Cause from pass experince,I will gain it before I know it.Being overweight isn't something I did over night. But it is something I don't have to be,you don't have to be. I know that 1 to 2 lbs a week don't sound very encouraging, but it's the only safe way. And the way that works the best.It may take 2-3 weeks before you see the first drop in your weight. But don't give up.Do this for yourself, think of the future and all the things you want to do. I'm not saying you can't you can't have a future if your over weight. But that you can have a better one with less weight.

Try buying a piece of clothing you really like that is too small for you. Like buy a size 13 dress. Then if you quit, you won't be able to fit into the dress. So then you get moving again. I hope this advice helps! God Bless!!!

Dear Monana,
I am just as overweight as you are. I am trying to lose weight like you are. What keeps me going is to think about how great you will look and this may sound stupid but, I pretend make it kinda like a game. GOOD LUCK!
