Ht. 5'6", Start: 170 lb, Today: 148 lb (BMI %tile: 80), Goal: 130 lb - So I'm going to try to get rid of this extra 'flab'. Especially love handles and that area on your sides on your back that shows through semi-tight shirts. Anybody have any tips? I am for the most part, quite athletic, and I eat very well, and drink a lot of water. I've been through eating disorders (which aren't the answer at all), and weight loss stuff, but still haven't been able to get to my idea of an ideal size. Maybe this will help :) I'd appreciate any support!! :)

yu guys no need to get frisky. ha. she is right tho, someone who is emotionally addicted to something is a true problem, i myself am a cutter, i cut for 4 years until i got cought, and its still a problem cuz when i do get stressed or sad or anything i think about cutting, i want to cut, but i dont, cuz i dont want to fall into it again, but its something i still work on, but the same goes withe ating disorders, you can have it for years and years, and if you get treated you still have that emotianal connected that you had. but how do you know that Amanda didnt go through an eating disorder, and eating disorders also consists compolsive overeating, and thats a HUGE thing to get over, but if she says she did then obviously she did, dont intoragate her with what he experiences are. that wrong. but Amanda, to you if you already workout and sutff, you need to focuz on the FOOD you eat, its about calories and what types of food you eat, if you flucuate you caloric intake from 1800-1000 calories throughout the days then that speeds up your metablism cuz it keeps it guessing, and also cut out as much sugar, white foods, and fat as you can, and you will naturally drop the excess fat in problem areas, but to make the problem areas look their BEST, tone...toning exersices are the key.

TAYLOR, relax its not that serious and you don't have to get so worked up about it with such a nasty tone! sheesh.
Amanada, great job!! I also have the same problem so when I do my cardio I just add weights to it to help my upper body. And how long did it take you to lose that much weight? And what did you do? Thanks and good luck!

Well, you can't disagree actual, as it's solid medical procedure. I'm talking the diagnostic criteria DOCTORS use. And no, once you "cut" you're not a cutter unless the behavior continues. I didn't say they have to be skinny. For anorexia that is how doctors diagnose it, you HAVE to be underweight to get that diagnosis. And frankly if you haven't been diagnosed by a doctor you don't have a right to say you have any DISEASE... that makes light of those who really do have it. It really offends me to hear you say you've "been through one" since that makes it seem like it was a phase and eating disorders aren't... it IS an emotional illness, and that's WHY it never ever goes away entirely. One day without food, does not an eating disorder make... one self-inflicted wound does not make a self-harm addiction (that's what cutters are... not people who do it ONCE, but those who are ADDICTED). I don't appreciate you making light of such mental illnesses as you have never truely had to suffer through them...

I personally have to disagree with all the criteria that is required to have an eating disorder. it's just like cutting. You cut once and you are a cutter. Period. You don't have to have a whole line of things that make you one. People with eating disorders don't have to be mega skinny. I know of several people with severe eating disorders that are heavy. It's not a physical condition, it's an emotional one.

For the record, one doesn't "go through" eating disorders... they usually stick with someone for most of their life, they're likely to struggle with them for years and years, and they're usually NOT about weight but abotu control, and the other things in ones life. Just thought you should know, because it kind of bothers me when people claim they used to have an eating disorder, because they restricted for a couple of months or something like that. Sure it's not healthy, but it's a crash diet, not an eating disorder. Diagnostic criteria for anorexia requires a person to actually be underweight, and for bulimia and binge eating, I believe the diagnostic criteria is a MINIMUM of six months of engaging in such behavior. So chances are you haven't really had an eating disorder, you've just engaged in healthy habits to try and lose weight, which isn't really the same thing. Anyway, you should probably look up toning exercises for the problem areas you have. Or maybe just learn to except yourself, because if you're at a healthy weight, and you can't lose anymore, chances are it's just not in your genetic make-up to be super skinny. Some people are just meant t carry a bit more fat, not an unhealthy amount, but perhaps more than they would like. If your healthy, it shouldn't matter so much that there are a few things that aren't perfect about how you look. Just learn to accept yourself.
