Ht. 5'4", Start: 185 lb, Today: 185 lb, Goal: 135 lb - hey everyone. i am new to the message board. i just turned 17 on sunday and school starts for me on September 4th. i am hoping to lose about 50 pounds by March 1st. i was just wondering if anyone had any tips about how to get started losing weight (getting into a daily diet and exercise habit, how to avoid unhealthy food, etc.). i am kind of in need of some motivation as i am having some family problems right now.

actually 1200-1400 calories a day is better then 1000 calories. eat alot of fruit, vegies, and whole grains. ur bigger meals should be in the morning cuz u will burn it off throughout the day. u should eat something high in fiber in the morning(whole wheat toast, oatmeal, cheerios) with a piece of fruit. lunch can be something like yogurt(calcium) and granola or a PB&J sandwhich. dinner should have some type of protien(egg whites, grilled chicken, turkey, ham) with vegies but watch the fat. some have more then others. then u can have 1-2 little snacks throughout the day. u can do anything u want to exercise. any type of cardio to burn fat and strength training to build muscle. things like nuts, peanuts, and meat help u with that. green tea boosts ur metabolism and helps u bun fat faster. this is alot and i hope it helps

all i do is eat about 1000 calories a day. i know that isn't "healthy" and it's too little, but if you eat the right foods you're satisfied and the weight melts off. i lose about 8-10 pounds a month and i dont even exercise. of course this isnt for everyone, if you're into exercise and eating right you can do that too. i just noticed that i lose weight this way, and i hardly lose any weight when i exercise and eat healthy for some reason
