In order to keep your body healthy as you lose weight, make sure you get enough protein everyday. Protein helps to preserve your muscles while helping your body use your stored fat. Protein also helps you feel full!
Protein is in lots of foods. You can find it in dairy products like milk and yogurt. It is also in meats like beef, chicken, turkey, and fish. There is also protein in beans, nuts, and soy. Some protein-packed foods also have lots of fat. Pick the leaner varieties. Try to get about 3 ounces (or 21 grams) of protein at lunch and dinner everyday.
Helpful Hint: Three ounces of meat looks like the size of your computer mouse.

Baked fish, chicken, or turkey
Lean deli meat like Healthy Choice or Butterball
Light 'n Fit Yogurt
Reduced Fat Peanut Butter
The loin, flank, or round cut of beef or pork
