Hey all together,
My
name is Robert. I’m a 17 year old, German boy and I had a
real fat problem. I was obese till I came to the
obesity-rehabilitation-center INSULA in Berchtesgaden (Germany). That’s a clinic for obese adolescents and young adults. They usually
have an overweight of 50 percent or a BMI of >30 and they can be
12-30 years old. In eight months I lost over 35 kilogram’s (77
pounds) and now
I’m a normal weight boy. But how I managed that? Let me tell you
more about the therapy in the INSULA.
Here we have special education
in nutrition and a lot of sports. We have individual training for
our muscles and specially walking in the mountains in the alps. But
compared with our sport program, we have a lot of other sport
activities, e.g. mountain biking, swimming, rafting, climbing,
skiing, ice skating, sweating in the sauna, aerobic, baseball,
volleyball, of course football and then we have an absolutely
interesting –Highlight: this is our
web-bikers internet training
program. I must tell you I like it. Please imagine you, riding with
a bike comfortable from home, incidentally you can see interesting
bike tours in Germany and abroad and at the same time you can be
surfing in the internet, check your e-mails, chat with friends and
so on and the main point was weight loss or?? Yeah that’s
web-bikers, with this bike you can cycle from Athens to Delphi
(Greece), Denmark, Norway, San Francisco, highways through
California, all over Berchtesgaden and many more tours. Yes, with
web-biking you lose weight, absolutely great. Maybe you think yes of
course, but how? That’s a simple thing, all what you need is the
electronic bike, the web-bike from
www.daum-electronic.de and a
computer with internet connection. You start the bike riding video
tour and open the web-page
www.web-bikers.de and start the program.
Through the internet connection it’s possible that everybody, if
they have a web-bike, can ride together with you. And if you like
it, then you can chat with the other web-bikers. I must tell you
it’s a very funny and easy way to lose weight. Look at me I, have managed my goal. But why I tell you that???
Because of the longterm-obesity-rehabilitation in the Insula. It is
the only obesity-rehabilitation-centre in Europe, which offers the
patient a steady long-term success for 2 to 9 months. In average the
patients lose about 20-30kg (44-66 lb.) in 6 months. Well I can show myself, I
was an obese teen, as many, many thousand other people around the
world are obese, with rising numbers specially in children and
adolescents. And here, at the Insula-Program, the steady long-term
success of loosing weight. I can see my obese friends here, they
have a lot of problems, not only social and psychological problems,
mainly medical problems as high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus,
impairment of fat metabolism, beginning arterios¬clerosis, sleep
apnea syndrome (beginning with extreme snoring), respiration
problems and so on. Here in the Insula they can “heal” the damages
at young obese persons mainly through weight loss if it is done in
time. The financial expenses of obesity are 70 billion Euro in
Germany and $ 159 billion in the USA. The American’s must pay much
more money for weight loss therapy than the Germans. Sometimes we
have here patients from
America (Mexico, San Francisco), Italy,
Greece, Switzerland and so on. They lose a lot of weight here and
are mostly satisfied with the therapy. They don’t have to starve to lose weight, in opposite, we get ca. 1500 to 1800 kcal each day and
I can assure you that we don’t have to starve! We get fruits and
vegetables, whole wheat products, pasta, soups so that we have a
daily intake of 55% carbohydrates, 15% protein and 30% fat and I
become full with our food.
We all are interested in new patients from new countries. And
please be sure, that we all can speak English and if not you can see
it as an exchange in a foreign country. You can see a new land with
new people, landscapes and new culture.
We are pleased for you to visit or maybe as a new patient. All
right? I hope we can see you. If you have questions, email me
at
Goodbye yours Robert
