(For some reason I'm having trouble posting replies lately - don't know what's up with that.) Fad diets are most likely unhealthy. Is the "South Beach Diet" similar to the "Hollywood Diet"? If so, it's extremely unhealthy (basically starvation) and only makes you lose water weight, which you "gain" right back when you start eating again. Also, you can only expect to lose .5-2 lbs a week - any more than that is dangerous, which means you can't lose 20 lbs before school starts unless your school doesn't start until mid-September. -James
