TO ANNE AGE 17. I really think that you give great advise, so can please help me? I'm 14, 146lbs and 5'5. I play competitive tennis, so i practice 3hours in the morning Monday-friday on alternate weeks. During the other weeks I use the time for conditioning. I have been doing that last summer and have lost a great deal of weight. But then I started bingeing on candy and lost control over what I ate so I gained about 23 lbs in this school year. During a noraml day I will be eating 5 meals about 400 calories each because I will need that much energy for my tennis and conditioning. Heres my basic schedule (omitting stuff like driving,etc) for a tennis week: wake up, run for 30 min, eat breakfast, play tennis for 3 hrs, go to the gym, spend 1 hr 10 min on the elliptical, 30 min on stairmaster, 30 min riding a bike, then lift weights for 20-30 min (every other day). I will eat a snack, Then I will swim for 1 hour. At home i'm gonna eat a snack, run for 30 minutes and then do a 20 minute winsor pilates tape. Then i will eat dinner, watch a bit of TV, and then do an advanced tae bo tape. I will be getting about 9:30 hours of sleep every night. I will be eating a very balanced diet with lots of protein. By the end of the summer I wanna be 121 lbs. But the thing is that if i'm gonna do everything i'm supposed to I will loose all the weight before August. I have no problems doing all that work because I'm used to it. So, what should I do? Any advise? Anybody? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

well-i love tennis and i know how much that can be a workout. that's great that you're able to do that so often. i never have a partner to practice with but i will starting next sunday because that's when i go to this academic program where i stay at a college campus and my roomate is on my tennis team this year. i would take some of that cardio and put it into weightlifting- especially if you have access to a gym with good weight machines because although cardio lifts your metabolism temporarily, muscle will lift it permanently as long as you keep it. i'm also a litlle under 145 and 5'5" i've lost quite a bit but it's taken me a long time and now i just want to lose about 20 more but i'm working more on building more muscle then anything else so i might gain this summer even though i slim down. make sure that you're not doing that amount of exersize everyday. your body needs to heal or you can be hurting it more then helping. but also make sure its consistent. don't let more then 48 hours pass without an adequate workout or your metabolism falls down again. my email is red8705@hotmail.com maybe we could help eachother over the summer to lose those 20 pounds?

I dont know if I'm overdoing it. But I did the exact same thing last summer and lost like 23 lbs doing it. I kept the weight off for about 3 monthes but then I just started eating soooo much candy and could not controll myself. Next year when I'm gonna go to high school I will be doing sports every season. Cross country in the fall, Jogging in the winter, and tennis in the spring. I will be having 1 and a half hour practices after school and competitions on weekends. So hopefully this year I will not fail to keep my eating under controll.

Hi i think thats a pretty ood plan but dont you think you're over-doing the excercise a little bit? I mean when you go back to school and you have to cut down on the excercise you might end up putting all that weight you lose back on because thats what happened to my sister. I dont want to put you off or anything i just want 2 warn you incase it does happen.
