i am 5'4 and weigh 190 lbs. I am an emotional over-eater and need help. Any suggestions? I have been successful at losing weight before, but last year i suffered from depression and was put on medicine that helped me gain weight. I went overboad with the food. I used to be active, but no longer am. I need help....please give specific suggestions. I am not looking for quick fixes, but any advice that anyone could offer would be great.

Keep a food journal!! Write down everything you eat, and if you have time, write down how you felt that day. If you overeat one day, write it down and write down how you were feeling when you overate. Were you bored? Sad? Angry? Happy? Once you figure out why you overeat you can start substituting overeating with another activity. Try walking when you're mad, call a friend when you're happy or sad, talk to your parents, or just get OUT of the kitchen and try to work out your feeling without food. Just remember, food may be the reason you are having emotional problems, but food is not going to be the thing that is going to fix them. Good luck and I know you can do this!! ~Hayley
(You also might want ot look into Weight Watchers, which is what I'm doing. You get SOOOO much support w/ the online program, they have tons of resources and articles and you can go to the boards and post questions or post when you need support and there are thousands of people there in your same position. just fib that you're over the age limit, don't worry tons of kids do it. Also, the whole eating program is so simple, it's about points, which is SOO much easier than counting calories.)
