Ht. 5'7", Start: 321 lb, Today: 316 lb (BMI %tile: 98), Goal: 160 lb - I just recently started my weight loss journey three weeks ago and its been really tough! Its been hard to think positive about it all when my family is skinny and I feel like they don't really understand what I'm going through even though I know they try.
My doctor introduced my to this site and I'm hoping it'll help.
Does anyone have any advice on how to keep positive about it?

I know how you feel. My family just doesn't get it, ya know? But stay strong, have will power and never give up! You will have bad days and you will have good days that is apart of it. If you gain weight don't get upset and give up. That's one thing I have learned. It takes time, you're not going to lose it right away. You can do it! Never give up!!!!!!!!! :)

Start by making small changes, that's how habits are formed. You won't need to think positively about something once it's become second nature to you. You said it's only been three weeks since you've started, it's no wonder it's been so difficult. All I can suggest is that you try to keep your head up and push past your challenges. It will be hard, but each day it will get a little bit easier. As long as you can get past the days that are especially difficult for you then you will make it and you will be healthier for it. Supposedly it takes about a month or so before a habit is formed. Start with small changes, and gradually increase them. It won't be so daunting that way. I used to tell myself, "I'll start my diet on Monday" and then I'd binge all weekend until Monday hit. I'd work so hard all week trying to do everything perfectly - exercising, eating well... drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day... perfect, but that's when I'd fail. It was too much all at once. I didn't truly find success until I paced myself and started small. Now those small changes are adding up and making huge differences! Sorry for typing so much. I think I've had too much coffee today.
