@Thomas, Kevin is the biggest one of his friends. He told me yesterday he's the biggest boy in the 5th grade. I think he's proud of it.

We're just back from our cruise holiday, which was amazing - particularly the food! We've found that cruises work best for our big family in recent years, as we decided a few years ago that flying had become impractical for us. The girls love being on the ship, and it makes sense being all-inclusive.
I agree that it's so important for big kids to have friends of a similar size. I can see how good it is for our girls to hang out with other kids closer to their size.

That sounds good. I’m glad it's that way. It's becoming more common to be bigger, I think. Are the three friends as big as him, or a bit smaller? My son has some friends who are almost his size, too.

@Thomas, Kevin likes school. I don't think he's being bullied because he looks forward to going every day. He has three good friends in this grade, all bigger boys like him.

How is school for Kevin? Does he has friends and a normal social life? I hope he doesn’t get bullied in school.

Kevin seems happy with his size. When he go swimming he doesn't were a tee shirt. (When I was a fat kid I always wore a tee shirt) school starts for him on August 4 so we're going shopping for bigger clothes for him this weekend.

Does Kevin seem happy with his weight?
My boy is also quite big but I think as long as he is healthy and happy it’s okay
I don’t want to fight with him all the time about food

I'm concerned about Kevin but it's hard to do anything about his weight. He's so fat he waddled and his belly, breasts, and rear end are very big. He has a big appetite, always takes extra helpings, and snacks all the time. When I tried to cut back on his servings and snacking, he pouts, whines and says I'm trying to starve him. So, I've given up. My older son Lane makes things worse. He and his friends are always treating Kevin like a little buddy and treat him to fast food and ice cream. Lane and his friends all play football and are big and they think it's OK when Kevin eats as much as they do.

I'm not sure. He won't get on the scale for me. Last time I checked he was in the low 280s but that was months ago and he is certainly bigger now.

I would love some ideas to get a very obese and inactive 11 year old off the couch. He has a hard time walking due to his knees. He is very self conscious about his stretch marks, which he has a lot of. He has put on a lot of weight this year and everything is making him out of breath. I saw him in just his underwear the other day during a heat wave and I'm sure his breasts are now much larger than mine. I just wish I knew how to get him healthy. I tried leaving him like a few of you suggested and seeing if it was a phase and he has just put on so much more weight. He is starting to get to the same sort of size as my brother who is on disability due to his obesity and lives in my basement. Would love suggestions.

Then oldest works a bit doing yard work some days and likes making his own money, the youngest is just enjoying his summer vacation. Depending on the weather how they spend their time, but a lot with friends, and outside in nice weather, indoors gaming, watching tv etc. when it is cold and/or rainy. What about your son?
