Jesse, I do have another son. But the 16 year old is the one with the weight issues. The 13 year old is 165 lbs and just shy of 6 feet tall, wearing a L shirt and size 11.5 or 12 shoes. So both are quite tall.

Sam, do you have just one son?

Jesse, my boy weighs a little less than yours, about 350 lbs. But takes 4XL shirts, but also for length (he‘s around 6‘ 4“). Shoe sizes US 13.5 or 14.

I do the same! December is not the time for restrictions, I think.

I let Benjamin decide for himself how much and what he eats. Then in January you can pay attention to exactly what you eat. But for now, let's enjoy the holidays

How big and tall are your boys? What sizes clothes and shoes do they wear?

Kevin is a little on the short side compared to his classmates so the weight he's been putting on is real noticeable especially in the backside and legs. I agree with you about the fat shaming, from personal experience. My mother fat shames me when I was 12 and suddenly put on a lot of weight, especially on my chest, in the butt and my thighs. Extreme fat shaming, to this day I don't know why. She put me on diets and announced to everyone I had no self discipline. As a 12/13 year old I couldn't help it. I just knew I was hungry. My therapist years later it was probably normal pre-puberty weight gain, but I was no longer the perfect son my mom liked to show off (I did modelling as a younger kid.) So I snuck food, cheating on the diets and just got bigger and bigger. I was only years later when I met my late wife (who loved me for myself, all 330 pounds of me) that I felt OK about myself. So I vowed never to do the same to my kids. I know with Christmas here there's all kinds of food around but I don't want to limit my kids because I don't want to feel what I felt. All kids go through stages where parts of their body grow faster than others. So I can live with buying husky size or specially tailored clothes for Kevin as long as he needs them.

Jesse, good to hear that she didn't say anything to him. Getting a bad self esteem due to body shaming is really bad for a kid. He must be quite husky at that weight, I guess it's about the same as my 10 year old which is a little taller and heavier. He is happy and does not complain, but it is at times a challenge to find clothes that will fit him well. I also get a lot negative from certain family members, but I have decided to just let them go on, as long as they take it out on me and not the kids. December is a challenging month when it comes to snacks, with all sorts of events, calendars and other things going on, which often involves candy, cake, soda, chocolate and all the other typical christmas things.

Eric, the relatives who commented to me about Kevin last saw him on Merorial Day back at the end of May. He was thin back then. He was about 50 pounds then and now he's 121. I got him on the scale on Sunday. I guess seeing him every day I haven't realized just how big he's gotten. One of my aunts told me Kevin is as big as a house now and I should put him on a diet but she's always been the negative one in the family. Luckily she didn't say anything to him.

Yeah, same here. We have a very big family with all sorts of gatherings coming up, in addition to everything going on in school and so on. It's basically from one event to the other, especially during the weekends. Hope you did not get too much hassle from family members commenting on his weight.

We ate our way through Thanksgiving, family dinner and then a family get together Saturday. I stopped taking Kevin, the 8 year old, to McD’s after school because of my job, but all this means is that he comes home and starts snacking. Lane, the 15 year old, hasn't been putting on any weight. He has a big appetite but he's a big kid already and he's active. Kevin is really looking forward to Christmas. At the Thanksgiving family get together some relatives commented on how big Kevin is getting.

Well in regards to food - making sure there's not an abundance of sweets or sugary treats. More junk food means more junk in his trunk lol.
