Hi everyone, I wrote here about three months ago about my son Miles who gained a lot of weight during and after the pandemic. At the time of my last writing Miles was 378 at 6’1. Today he’s about 410 and 6’1. I’m completely lost on what to do. He’s eating loads of food outside the house at his fast food job and it’s obviously taking a toll on his health. I’ve paid more attention to his physical and eating habits over the last three months and it’s gone downhill. I don’t buy snacks, but he fills my pantry with snack cakes and other junk food that he wolfs down every day. It’s like every time I see Miles he has some snack that I didn’t buy. His fitness has gone down the toilet - I can tell it’s taking more energy than it should just to do simple tasks like climb stairs or walk a few blocks. Even getting up from the chair takes a little bit of effort. He’s not depressed or anything, somehow has a vibrant social life, but it’s at the point where he’s gonna have a heart attack if he continues down this path. Anyone have any advice?
Reply from Miles, Child's Age 16 - 04/17/22 - IP#: 172.58.191.xxx He’s not interested in any career that requires effort - he wants to become an engineer. I know the initiative has to come from him but it’s crazy how fat he’s gotten and how much he eats. I feel like a failure.

Many professions have height/weight requirements (emergency response, law enforcement, the military). This may start him thinking about losing weight. At 16, the initiative is going to have to come from him.
