That's the problem I face all the time. I tell my son to stop the snacks or not take so much food at meals and he says he's hungry. Last time I persisted and he got angry and said I was trying to "starve" him! I bit my tongue to keep from telling him he's not starving at 277 pounds. Another time he told me I take seconds at meals so why shouldn't he? I don't want to get in a battle over this with him, and I admit he's right. I weigh over 300 myself.

Corinne, I was amazed when I read that your son gained 4 pounds in a week. Because of the winter storm I didn’t go to work today so before breakfast I weighed and measured both my boys. They’re only a little taller ( maybe a quarter inch) Jamar weighs 186 and Jamile 173. Jamar has gained 13 pounds in a month and Jamile only 3..Since I was home all day I noticed how much both of my babies eat, but especially Jamar. This afternoon Jamile was outside with my husband shoveling snow. I was putting clean laundry away and Jamar had a jar of peanut butter he was eating with a spoon while watching cartoons. We just bought the jar a couple days agoand it was almost gone. I told Jamar to stop because he wouldn’t have room for dinner and he started whining that he was hungry, so what could I say. Afterwards I found the empty jar in the trash. At dinner I noticed Jamar ate a lot more than Jamile. He just sat there and shoveled the food in like there,s no tomorrow.

Your son is gaining weight so fast. Does he eat a lot at meals, snack a lot, or both? Do you notice that he has more of a taste for fattening food now that he's gotten fat? (My son loves butter and will put it on everything if I let him, even a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.)
