Hello everyone
I'm new here, and I'm looking forward to meeting some other people.
I have two sons, a 15 and a 11 year old. I am a bit concerned about their weights. My oldest son weighs 493lbs (223kg), and my youngest weighs 321lbs (146kg). The covid lock down isn't helping with their weight too. My oldest son complaints about pain in his knee, and back. Just recently his stretch marks are hurting, and in the last 1-2 years, my oldest son has had rashes/sores on his skin, due to his skin rubbing together.

Do you worry about his stretch marks starting to split? It isn't normal for them to hurt that much.

I know baby powder can help with chafing, but you probably already know that. If mobility is at all an issue for them, have you considered getting them any mobility-aids? Going oht in a wheelchair must be metter than not going out at all, seeing as you mentioned walking is getting hard for your older son

Do you have to go to special stores to find clothes that fit? What are their diets like? I can only imagine how little the lockdown has been in terms of getting them active. How tall are they? Their weights might not be too bad if theyre quite tall.

Dan, my son Lane is 11 too. He turns 12 in October. How tall is your 11 year old? My son is 5'1" and ws 263 and a lot of his weight is in his hips and legs. I was amazed that your son is 60 lbs heavier than my boy. Your son must have a hard time moving around. Is your son self conscious about his size?

Yes, will they go to friends houses sometimes and they can eat there. They can find walking hard.

I see. How are they able to get all those snacks and takeouts every day? I guess any physical activity is hard at that size - even walking must be difficult? At this weight health issues will appear at some point, do they have any issues or had a checkup? And why do you think your youngest does not want to lose weight? Too much effort, or other reasons?

I would say my oldest son is a little body conscious, I notice when we go shopping for clothing they seem a little worried. I think they might be worried if things don't fit or they don't have a size that will fit. I did have talk with my youngest son about his weight, didn't like the idea of losing weight. Their eating is quite bad and out of control, lots of snacks and takeaways. They hardly do any Physical activity, they are unable to do P.E at school. They try and do a little, but they get tired. My oldest son has put on 10lbs in one month during the lock down.

Luckily, my sons never had any bullying issues. They are not as big as yours, though. What do they think and feel themselves? Are they happy or body conscious? Do they want to lose weight, or are they ok? Health issues are quite a bad sign.. What do they eat and how is their physical activity level?

Dave, thanks for replying. Yea, they have always been quite big. I never had much control on what they eat, as I am at work. So my wife is at home. When I am with my home with my kids, sometimes I do say no more food. I'm biggish myself (300lbs), so I don't think that really helps. They have been having issues at school around bullying because of his size, but the school dealt with it. Has your son had issues around bullying?

Welcome here! Wow, at that size they must have been big for quite some time. How did they get so big?
