Hi i was wondering if i could get any advice as it seems like all of a sudden my daughters weight has ballooned and is now out of hand she is 16 and weighs 256lbs and this has only happened recently as when she last stepped on the scales maybe 6 months ago she weighed 187lbs i dont know what to do her weight is mainly on her stomach she has been asked many times if she is pregnant but doesnt appear to be embarrassed or concerned about her weight how can i talk to her without making her feel body conscious? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update, my daughter she actually got down to a healthy 146lbs her and her husband started to workout together and she has balanced her weight at about 165lbs now and seems happy with that.
Hope that you and the family are well

Hey thank you for the reply yes i have met him and he seems quite nice he is average weight and isnt really into fitness however when i asked my daughter why she was losing weight "for him" she said it was because she felt that he would prefer her to lose weight when i spoke to her about this she said that that is just how she thinks he would feel and that he didnt say that. when he came over he made put my mind at rest because he had said that weight doesnt matter... however i do think someone has made her feel the need to lose weight and i just hope that it is because of what she said not because of what her boyfriend has told her.

Hello Linda, have you met your daughter's boyfriend yet? What is his personality like? My concern if I were her mom would be that the boyfriend is trying to shame or bully her into losing weight in an unhealthy way. Is his trying to control all aspects of her life including her weight? On the other hand, is your daughter trying to lose weight so that she will feel more attractive for him? Does he accept her as she is and has suggested to her she lose weight for health reasons? Is he heavy himself or really into fitness? If he's fit and encourages your daughter to lose weight and become more fit over time, that's a good thing. Main thing I would suggest is to get to know the boyfriend and check him out.
