Help! I took my son Leo for a physical yesterday and it left me with more questions than answers. Leo is 4'9" and weighs 159.He'so grown 2 inches and put on 84 pounds since last July! The pediatrician said all the lab results show no problems like prediabetes. When I asked her why he's put on so much weight she said he eats too much. Tell me something I didn't already know! She then said it's probably "prepuberty weight gain". I don't know if I can believe this. None of his friends (all the same age and grade in school) are gaining any extra weight at all and all seem to have normal appetites while Leo eats more than I do at every meal. The doctor told Leo to watch how much he eats and sure to exercise but that's something I knew already. Have any of you parents gone through something like this with your child? Any advice? Leo just sat there and didn't say anything. Afterwards we went to eat lunch at McDonald's because I wanted to see how much he actually listened to the doctor and he ended up eating a double cheeseburger with 2 fries and 6 piece chicken nuggets with a shake so what she told him had no effect at all.Help!
