ok so my 8 year old daughter has always been fat as much as I try she just wont lose weight, I make her go in the garden and run but she is very unfit, anyway the other day I came downstairs at about one in the morning as I heard a noise and she was just in the kitchen eating a chocolate cake, she was eating it so fast like she was out of control cramming big slices into her porky hands and cramming it in her mouth, I was disgusted, I dragged her upstairs which caused tantrums then in her bed I found a bag of grated cheese that she has been eating.......she is so greedy im so ashamed

I feel sad for your child if you cut her down like this it is no shock she uses food to comfort her

I agree with Donna. She might be eating for comfort (bullying, low self esteem, lonelyness, etc.) Since she's young you should take responsibility by buying healthy foods and limiting fattening foods in the house. Also, don't just tell her to "go run". Go out and play with her or do some sports/activities she might actually enjoy. Make sure to start out slow or she will hurt herself. Also calling your daughter "porky" isn't going to help at all....

Have you thought of taking your daughter to a physician for an evaluation? It sounds like she may have an eating disorder. Hiding food and sneaky eating are NOT normal for children. My son weighed 150 pounds when he was 8 but he never did the things your daughter is doing. Please get professional help for her.
