My daughter is 16 years old and weighs 250. she gets depressed very easily and tries hard to change her lifestyle. she eats anything around the house and blames her depression on family issues. i want to help her and give her adivce but i don't know what to do. i love her alot but i really want her to be happy. she is sick of being teased and having others talk bad about her. high school for her is tough because of what people say. HELP!

Do you think she would be interested in some activities outside of school like a local literacy program where she teaches others to read, or volunteering at a pet shelter? Those types of things might help break the vicious cycle of feeling bad, eating, feeling worse, eating some more... Volunteering might reduce how much she eats just because she's out of the house or "distracted" more and at the same time, might help raise her self-esteem.
