My daughter is 5'3 and weighs 320 LBS. She went to live with her dad for the summr and gained about 20 LBS. She use to b very helthy, thi girl in 2nd grade but after her father and i got divorced she started gaining weight. Her Father is also kind of big and doesn't watch his weight. When She came backfor the school year I called her father and asked him why she gained so much. He said that she was a growing girl and shoukd eat whatever she wants. What do i do?

I think that your daughter should lose some weight.Try and help her with this though.Inform her about the effects of obesity and what could happen to her.My child, Julianna had never been obese ,but to the pudgy side but she gained alot when she hit 12.This past year I have helped Julianna lose weight and she is now down to 5'3 111 pounds.Julianna is back to where she was before and happier, fitter, and full of self confidence

This should not be ignored, ignoring will not make it go away or correct it, if she is already 320, which would put her in a serious health risk category, she is just going to continue to gain. if she is depressed over the divorce it is passed time to get counseling, at her age, she will only be eating what you provide, you need to make sure you are providing not only healthy meals and healthy snacks but the support and information she needs to get healthy. At this weight and age, she is in serious risk of a heart attack , diabetes and other serious illnesses. You should be taking her to her peditrician and discussing the best course of action to take.

Well, if she acts like she hasn't gained a thing, then you should act like that too. I understand that you're worried about her health, but you should support her.

Well, does she care that she's gained some weight? Because if she doesnt complain then dont think about it. If she starts complaining about her weight, then u can ask. Otherwise, she probably doesnt care much about weight

don't get on her back about it. she's probably depressed about the divorce. maybe she has a lot of stuff happening.
