I previously wrote worried that my son was having prob. with elevated liver enzymes, well a change in diet and discipline and now his levels are NORMAL. AND he lost 1/2 pound. He doesn't like what I serve and refuses to eat. I found that if I stick to my guns and refuse to prepare him a special meal he eventually will eat what is served! He is eating alot less crap these days and playing outside alot more now that the weather is so beautiful. I am thankful for this board and the folks who offered me advice. we still have a long way to go.

yes my son is still in karate, and he loves it. We have "tricked" both of our kids into eating fruit by giving it to them for dessert most nights. Otherwise there is no dessert! Thanks for the encouragement!!!

Glad to hear that things are turning out well for your son. It took my wife and I a long time to learn what your did---if a kid gets hungry enough, he'll eat what you cooked for him. It's better for a boy to miss a meal because he's trying to win a power struggle with you than for you to give him and let him eat something unhealthy just because that's what he wants. Also, you mentioned that your son is in karate---is he still doing that? Our two boys are both big in terms of BMI but they're healthy and active (we started them with martial arts and that got them comfortable with other activities. We limit junk food and candy to special treats only. It was a battle at first, but like you we stuck to our guns and it's paid off. Keep it up!
