Our son is 7-1/2, is 49" tall, and weighs 137 lbs. He's a real happy kid, has a lot of friends, and is real active. He has a real big appetite, takes seconds and thirds at all meals, and loves his snacks. I'm heavy and my wife is real heavy. I think we should all try to cut down, because our son has put on about 45 lbs in the last year. My wife doesn't think my son has any problems and says we shouldn't do anything which could make him feel he has a problem. Any advice from other parents out there? Thanks.

i don't think your son has a problem. the main thing si that he's happy. at his age, the weight is all baby fat anyway. i say keep him active and let him eat what he wants. thats what we do with my kids.

I think your wife is right in that you shouldnt do anything that makes him feel he has a problem, but you could try to make less food and have healthier snacks home. I have the same problem as you, which u can read about a few pages back and have serious weight problems myself. How big are you btw? It would be interesting to have contact I am at mattespost@hotmail.com

If your whole family is overweight, i read about a family progam called shapedown. im sure you can find something about it online. its good that your son is active, and choosing healthier foods to make for dinner will help your whole family. good luck!
