did it ever occur to all you parents to be suportive of your children and not make them feel like freaks. help them make healthier choices .. make them feel like they are special and make them feel loved. thats the best thing you can do. Ive read through some of these posts and you people nake me sick. and yes i am morbidly obese and im 27. ive been your kid. I know how it feels and its left me emotionaly scarred more than anyone can realize. to have our parents tell you your fat and lazy etc. is very emotionally scarring to the point of eating disorders and suicide. trust me i know .

I agree somewhat with what you and Susan say but you have to realize that these parents care about their kids health and just don't know the right way to go about it. Also, as a human being we have many functions, one being that we have an instinct to stay alive. That's why every once in awhile you hear about somebody who had to eat their dead friend on some deserted island to stay alive, things like that, etc. When people start to feel suicidal they are overriding their natural instinct of survival. There is never one thing that is soley responsible for this. A parent calling a child 'fat' will not be able to override this instinct single-handily. There would have to be other things going on too. So, this leads me to my point: You're story is overexaggerated to the extent of impossibility in order to make the parents of these children feel as if they are doing something horribly wrong when in reality they are doing their best to raise their kids in a healthy manner. But, on the other hand, you do have some good points. Saying things like this can lower a child's self-esteem which can lead to other problems, etc. *Ray*Ray*

I completely understand what you're trying to say to the parents on this website. Sometimes I read what the parents say about their children. Most of the parents are honestly looking for advise to help their children, then you have the parents that are trying to get their words out in regards to the children and just can not find the right words. I know that is not a good excuse especially since the words that they are using are extremely hurtful to their children. I to was overweight when I was a child and I think that's why I understand my daughter. If you start off thin as a child and you have been thin all your life, you will act as if having an overweight child is the end of the world. I have made my comments to some of these parents who make the worse comments towards their child. It breaks my heart that the person who is suppose to love their child unconditionally, could say such horribly cruel things. I know that I just went on and on about how I feel, but what I really wanted to tell you, I really appreciate you're opinion. You are a very honest person and I hope the parents that do not understand the feelings of their overweight children read what you had to say. Take Care.
