My son is six years old. He's in first grade and weighs over 100 pounds, and he is only 4 feet tall!!!!!!!!! My wife says that he will "grow into" his weight. But it just isnt happening. His doctor is very concerned about the risks of being that large. My wife and myself are both obese and I know we don't always eat right and exercise and stuff. My son can barley walk though. He cries if you say anything about his size. And if you wont let him eat what he wants, when he wants, he throws a fit and stomps around. My wife feeds him ALL THE TIME! I dont know what to do anymore. Someone PLEASE HELP!

look into some behavioral modification ideas
for any of us to change we need to change behaviors. with reinforcers.
a psycologist can help with that. good luck

Sounds like your kid has total control over your house. Quit trying to be his pal and get with discipline. You are turning him into a monster. When he gets out in the real world, he'll find out that throwing a tantrum ain't gonna go too far.

Hello I have a daughter who is 6 and weighs 113lbs and she is going through a very rough time right now because she can't eat what all the other kids eat. But you can not let them no matter what if you want your child to be healthy and not be made fun of all the time. kids are mean these days and believe me my daughter gets teased at school and it hurts her so much and me to. Even if your child get mad owell you have to think of them and in the long run they will thank you for it. Your wife and you should only put healthy food in the house lots of friut for him to snack on. That's what I have been doing for my daughter and trying to walk sometimes I know its hard but we have to do it for our kids. Feel free to email me @ kjaime80@gci.net good luck and be strong :)

Since you and your wife are both heavy maybe the whole family could go on a diet. If your son throws a fit tell him because he doesn't wont to eat this healthy food tell him to try it because he might like it. Every night after dinner you can reward him w/ a fun size piece of candy...okay not reward but treat him to. A fun size piece is usually 100 calories. Keep this candy hidden and locked too because kids are very good at finding things.
