Hi, my daughter is 8, 4'2, and weighs 120. I am extremely worried about her health. I have tried to change her eating habits for years but she argues with me until we I give in. I have seen 3 doctors regarding her weight and they all said the same thing. She will stretch as she gets older and she will definitely grow into her weight. Well, I just don't see it and that worries me even more. I need help in order to help my daughter. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

My stepdaughter is 9, 4 foot 2 and 145 lbs. Because we only have the kids every other weekend, I do the best I can to serve lots of fresh fruits and veggies, no processed junk food etc...I do the best I can but I'm only a stepmother. My frustration is that the 9-yearold weighs as much as my 16-year-old daughter who is 5 foot 11. The 9-year-old is constantly outgrowing her clothes...she's a woman's size 16 now...all stomach, can fill a "B" cup bra (her mother won't allow her to wear bras during the time she is at her house saying she is too young,)her asthma gets progressively worse and yet her mother, a Registered Nurse, does nothing. Child welfare services refuse to get involved saying it's not life-threatening, nor will the school get involved. Last Friday night I caught her eating a roll of raw cookie dough that she had snuck in her backpack to our house. There she was, standing in the downstairs bathroom, cookie dough oozing from her mouth...and her Dad did nothing, didn't confront her, didn't tell the bio-mom - nothing. I learned a long time ago that you can't force people to change if they don't want to. Hopefully she'll get the cluestick she needs upside the head from someone she actually has some respect for. Sorry to's just so sad to see someone committing suicide before your eyes.

hello. your daughter is very overweight for her age and height. she might not "grow" into her weight and might keep gaining, so give her food with less calories and more fiber and whole-grains. give her more of her favorite fruits and try getting reduced fat foods. if you work with her and excercise 4 times a week for 1 hour a day, she will reach her weight loss goals in no times. If she argues, then the best thing to do is a secret diet. As in, shes dieting but doesent really know it. Very slowly, take the junk food out of the house. Make very healthy meals that have low calories. She deffinitly wont know the difference. Make her lunch for school. DONT give her money to buy a snack. But like I said, have this being done over a period of time so she doesent notice. Sometimes when you pressure young children about looseing a few lbs, they can gain more for comfort reasons. Also, get her active! Enroll her in town sports, or buy her a new bike or scooter. Or trampoline. Things like that are helping her loose weight too! I hope this helps and good luck. Also, you must remember that your the boss and not your daughter. Dont "give in", and you will be succesful!!!
