hi, im writing because i need some advice about my 9yr old daughter.she has always been a little bit above average in her weight since she was about 2.she now wieghs 170lbs.she doesnt eat a lot of junk food,she just loves to eat and is always hungry.ive tried everything,low carb low fat low cal,nothing works.she can eat more than me in one sitting if i allow it.i feel so bad and guilty i dont know what to do.she wears a size 14 in womens clothing .please if anyone can offer some advice i would really appriciate it .thankyou

Im sorry but if your 9 year olds 170 thats not a little above average

Hello. My daughter eats when she is bored, not when she is hungry. If your child is hungry, but you really think she is bored, tell him/her to have a glass of water and to do something like riding a bike or calling her friends...or even inviting a friend over... hope this helps!

We started with "try not to have seconds". After controlling this, we stopped the snacking. Eating for my daughter was out of boredom. Find something else to do when you are heading to the fridge. Once we got past not having to have 2nd helpings at meal time, we would suggest she leave just 1 bite of something on her plate. Those little one bites add up and soon, they are not taking as much food. Finally, your daughter has to be in control of what she eats. Let her help you decide on good choices, rather than bad ones, and make sure you have some rewards along the way. For instance, my daughter went to the local fair last night, and rather than a healthy meal at home, I gave her $ to get her meal with there. Given the choice, she and a friend split the fattening food -- last year, she would've eaten that and more at the fair and asked for more $$. We also started a diary so she can look back and see how much exercise and what she ate so she knows where she went wrong or right if she doesn't or does lose a pound.

take a self on your fridge, and dedicate it to foods she can eat, that are low caloire. limit her caloires to 1200 cal a day. limit her sweets to one small(stage one) baby food jar sized treat a day. try enjoying healthy choice or smart ones meals for dinner, as thier low cal. workout with her for 30 min a day. goos luck!
