My daughter is 9 years old. She came to me and sat me down and explained to me how much she wanted to lose weight and why she wanted to lose weight. So, I think if you sit you mom down and talk to her, she will understand. My daughter started a weight loss program a couple of days ago and I can hear the excitement in her voice.

Be honest and ask her to help you. You could volunteer to help plan meals. Or you could ask her to get you some reading material. I recommend the book by Dr. Phil's son Jay. It really talks at a teenage level and talks first about liking yourself before you try to change you.
