Hi everybody, I need some help for my overweight daughter. She is 13, 5'2 and 134lbs. About a year ago, we moved and she was fairly active and ate healthy enough where we used to live. Now that we have moved, it seems all she does is sit around and go on the computer or watch TV. I try to get her out of the house(ie taking dog for walk, going swimming, sports, etc), but she always comes up with some excuse or another. I know she is uncomfertable about her weight because she is always wearing baggy clothing and sweatshirts even when it is warm outside. Although she is not seriously overweight, I just want her to loose a couple of pounds so both she and I will be happy. Any suggestions would be extremley helpful! Thanks,Suze

Your daughter really does not sound overweight for her height, but if you feel she needs to tone up a bit maybe you could try getting her to do pushups and situps and squats. strength training will help her build muscles which will burn more fat. encourage her to make healthy food choices and get a little extra activity. When I was twevle my mom would pay me a dollar every lap I rode my bike around the lake by our house. that was enough motivation for me! good luck.

Get her motivated in loosing weight. Have a discussion about it and really get her into it. You cant force her to do anything and loosing weight is definetely a team effort.

The only advice I can really give you is to make her go outside even though it sounds strict she will thank you for it in the long run. Also she needs to exercise daily to take off her extra weight I highly reccomend doing work out videos daily and having drink water instead of pop or juice and instead of eating junk food have her eat veggies and fruits.
