im not so sure if my child is overweight. she always comes home crying because people make fun of her, but in my opinion she isn't that big at all, she's about 5'0 or 5'1, and she weighs 125. The weight calculator on this site says she is at the risk of becoming overweight. She never gains weight but she never looses it either, she is very active and doesnt over eat, she is on the track team, and loves to dance she always dances, she is very talented, she wants to be a singer and fears that she will never become famous because she is too fat, someone please give me some tips to bring up her self esteem.

Your child really isn't that over weight unless it looks like it. I have an 11 year old girl and she weights 115. But she does'nt look over weight at all exept for her thighs.

Question, how does being fat kill a music career? Look at "The Weather Girls" or those rap guys. Not that your daughter is fat, but weight isn't really a problem in the music business.

Your daughter IS NOT overweight. Kids can be very cruel and they have identified that it is a sensitive area for her and that is why they are making fun of her. In fact, that is a healthy weight to be. There is clearly something wrong with these kids if they have to make fun of your daughter. She has to try and show them she doesn't care and it isn't upsetting her otherwise they will just carry on because they are getting a reaction. You have to sit down with her and tell her that she is a healthy weight to be, much better to be that weight than to be skinny and have no energy. As I said, she has to stand up to the bullies or between you you have to sort out a way of dealing with them, be it ignoring them or confronting them.
She sounds like a talented girl, maybe the other kids are jealous. Just emphasise all her good points and how fortunate she is to be so talented. She wouldn't be on the track team if she was overweight so therefore she can't be overweight. Put it like that.
