I have a 16 year old son, who weighs 420lbs, and says that he likes being that way. He has trouble walking short distances, and doing everyday activities. Please help me, because I don't want him having health problems when he is older.

Hi,you are not alone with your child being over weight, you have to help her with eating right too, kids learn from examples and i am sure if you work together with her and exercise you will see that you both will start to lose weight. I am working hard with my daughter too, i know its hard sometimes but you all can do it. You are welcome to email me at MZ_HONEY29@YAHOO.COM because i would hate for your daughter to end up on a Cpap machine for having a sleeping disorder its not happy feeling, my daughter is on one.
We as parents have to make this eating right a family thing, and get all the fatty foods out the house, and buy things that are healthy for your kids and yourself. To lose weight takes time and especailly if you are doing it the right way, its not good to loose wieght to fast. No matter what always show your child that you love him/her and always TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM. (NEVER CALL THEM NAMES, I KNOW IT REALLY HURTS THEM DEEP DOWN INSIDE REAL BAD). THANKS AND YOU CAN REACH YOUR GOALS...DON'T GIVE UP!!!TAKE CARE

I would forget that your son likes being that way. As a parent you have a responsibility for his wellbeing and clearly he won't only have health problems when he is older at that weight but he already has them if he can't walk far. I would get him to see a doctor or a dietician fast and they will give you advice on diet and nutrition for him. It certainly won't be easy because he has clearly got into very bad eating habits, but you have to start somewhere. Good luck.
