Hi there, my daughter is 9 and 135 lbs, moderatly obese, I can't find any clothes to fit her , we have been going into womens department and buying large, she is extremely round but short making it very difficult . Any suggestions of clothing made for "large young girls" ???

I am having the same problem with my stepdaughter's clothes, so I can sympathize. She's 4' 7" tall and weighs 105. Her stomach is so round, she wears her pants underneath it like a man with a beer belly! My best bet is to buy plus size kids' clothes at either JCPenney or Sears. Sears has a wider selection in the store, but JCPenney has quite a few things on its Web site. Judging from the measurements you gave, your daughter might be able to wear a size 18 1/2. And for pants for my stepdaughter (because the length is still too long in plus sizes to get the waist the size it needs to be), I get capri pants with an elastic waist. Or you might be able to buy women's jeans and have the legnth altered. I think the most important thing right now is to make her feel like her clothes are as cute as anyone else's in her class, even if it means spending a bit more money on them. Quality vs. quantity. Good luck, and feel free to e-mail me again. I've put a lot of time and effort into this topic! eingram@expoweb.com

My daughter just turned 8 on July 16th. She is 4ft. 4in. and she is about 95 lbs. Refering to the charts she is around 15 lbs. overweight. Her dad and I both are not in the best shape and promise that when school starts in one week that things are going to be different. We both work full time and this leaves her in the care of the babysitter who keeps her out of danger, but not out of the icebox. There will be no more snacking though out the day because its to hot to go outside and shes just bored. We had such a sad experience shopping for school clothes. The largest childerns sizes were way to small, so we went to the womens section. I dont want this school year to be like the last one. She was teased by a few children and this just hurt her so bad, and me too.
